Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What animal does Sidney use to try to get into the British Academy Film Awards at the start of the movie?

Answer: Pig

Sidney's voiceover informs us that "my alternative magazine, the "Post Modern Review", was on the ropes", and that "I needed a big celebrity scoop to save me from bankruptcy and humiliation". So he tries to use a pig who, he says to the clipboard lady letting people in, starred in "Babe 3", to gain access to the awards, the stars, and a new route to success.
2. What alias does Sidney use?

Answer: Clark Baxter

We first hear him refer to himself as Clark Baxter when he is talking to Thandie Newton at the "Sharps Magazine" after-show party for the British Academy Film Awards that he was unable to blag his way into. A little later in the movie Sidney refers to himself as Clark Baxter again when he is trying to chat up a girl in the bar in which he first meets Alison.
3. Sidney receives a phone call from Clayton Harding, the Editor of "Sharps Magazine", offering him a job in which American city?

Answer: New York

Believing that Clayton is looking to sue Sidney and his "Post Modern Review" magazine for Sidney's actions at the "Sharps Magazine" after-show party, and for the article about Clayton that featured in the latest edition of "Post Modern Review", Sidney starts a rant about how he's not scared of Clayton, and how he will "become more powerful than you can possibly imagine" when Clayton very calmly says "I want you to come work for me at "Sharps Magazine" in New York". We then see a montage of shots of New York, and a very excited Sidney being dropped off by taxi outside his new accommodation.
4. How does Sophie get to the other side of the pool when beckoned to "come over" by Eleanor at the roof-top party?

Answer: She wades through the pool.

It's a very busy party, and Sophie can't see a way to easily get through the crowd and walk round to the other side of the pool, so she takes off her shoes, lowers herself into the pool, holds her hair up so it doesn't get wet and wades across the stomach-deep pool, much to the glee of the paparazzi who are in attendance. We see a little later in the movie that Sophie's "stunt" has made front page news
5. What is the name of Sophie's dog?

Answer: Cuba

We first meet Cuba as Sophie, Lawrence and Eleanor get into the car to go to the Circle Club after the roof-top party. Sidney tries to get in the car too, and when Lawrence asks where he is going, Sidney replies "I'm going to the club". Lawrence replies "Sorry, you're not on the list", at which point Sophie's dog Cuba yaps and snarls at Sidney, prompting Lawrence to add "See, even Cuba says so". We see more of Cuba a little later on in the movie when Sidney's attempts to get the little dog onside don't go quite according to plan.
6. What does Sidney do when Elizabeth Maddox falls over in front of him in the corridor?

Answer: Steps over her and walks away

Earlier in the movie, Alison warns Sidney that "You do not approach Elizabeth Maddox (whose father owns "Sharps Magazine"), you do not talk to her, don't even make eye contact with her". Remembering this warning, Sidney decides it is in his best interest to simply walk away when Elizabeth Maddox falls over in front of him in the corridor, a decision that is given the "OK" approval by an onlooking Alison.
7. Which famous person does Sophie play in the movie for which she wins the best actress award at the Apollo Awards?

Answer: Mother Teresa

We first see a clip of the forthcoming movie "Teresa - The Making Of A Saint", starring Sophie Maes as Mother Teresa when Sidney and Alison are chatting at the bar. Sophie's portrayal of Mother Teresa is mentioned a few more times in the movie, and we see another clip from "Teresa - The Making Of A Saint" during the Apollo Awards scene.
8. Who tells Sidney that Alison is in love with him?

Answer: Lawrence

As Sidney is waiting to go into the Apollo Awards he is approached by Lawrence who grudgingly congratulates Sidney on making it to the top. He then tells Sidney that Alison left him, and she told him that she's in love with someone else - "some guy named Clark". On hearing this, Sidney (who uses the alias Clark Baxter) suddenly realises that his feelings for Alison are reciprocated.
9. What film is playing at the outdoor showing at the end of the movie?

Answer: La Dolce Vita

During the roof-top party we find out that Alison's favourite movie of all-time is La Dolce Vita. A little later in the movie, Sidney gives Alison a present - a vinyl record of La Dolce Vita. At the end of the movie, Sidney travels back to New York from Los Angeles (where he has been attending the Apollo Awards) to try to find Alison.

As he is taking a taxi ride, he notices that there is an outdoor screening of La Dolce Vita taking place. Remembering that Alison loves the movie, he guesses that she might be watching, asks the driver to stop, enters the venue and finds Alison sitting with a couple of her friends.
10. What does Sidney slip into Alison's dress pocket right at the end of the movie?

Answer: A ring

We find out earlier in the movie during a water cooler conversation between Sidney and Eleanor that the ring that Sidney wears on his little finger was given to him by his mother who, we subsequently find out, died when Sidney was young. The night before the Apollo Awards, Sophie bribes Sidney to give her the ring, but when Sidney sees Sophie wearing it as she gets up to accept the best actress award during the ceremony, he realises that he really loves Alison, and demands the ring back from Sophie as his mother told him to "give it to the one, and she (Sophie) is not the one".

As Sidney and Alison kiss during the outdoor screening of La Dolce Vita, Sidney slips the ring into Alison's dress pocket.
