Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. (1984) 'You can't really dust for vomit.' - Nigel Tufnel (played by Christopher Guest)

Answer: This is Spinal Tap

Rob Reiner directed this brilliant 'mockumentary' about a fictional band's less than successful tour of the States. The band has a history of having its drummers die, and this quote comes from an interview when they're explaining this. The drummer in question choked on someone else's vomit, but they never figured out whose vomit because 'You can't really dust for vomit.'.
2. (1939) 'As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again.'

Answer: Gone With the Wind

After escaping Atlanta barely ahead of the invading Yankees, Scarlett finally arrives at her beloved Tara with Melanie and her newborn son. When she gets there she finds that her mother is dead, her father is mad with grief, and everyone is looking to her to take care of them. Drawing from an inner strength that she never knew that she possessed, she makes the decision to go on fighting.
3. (1988) 'Don't eat the green ones, they're not quite ripe.' - Otto West (played by Kevin Kline)

Answer: A Fish Called Wanda

Otto has Ken tied up and is eating the fish from Ken's aquarium, one at a time, in an attempt to make Ken tell him where the diamonds are hidden. Charles Crichton directed this hysterically funny movie about a band of jewel thieves trying to rip each other off. Jamie Lee Curtis, John Cleese and Michael Palin also starred.
4. (1975) 'Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt like elderberries.' - French Knight

Answer: Monty Python and the Holy Grail

King Arthur and his men set off on a quest to find the Holy Grail, in this very irreverent movie by the 'Monty Python' gang. They come upon a castle where they try to generate some interest for their quest, but the castle is occupied by the French, who delight in insulting their English counterparts.
5. (2003) 'Certainty of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?' - Gimli (played by John Rhys-Davies)

Answer: Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

With the help of the army of the dead, Sauron's attack on Minas Tirith has been defeated. Instead of resting on their laurels, Aragorn proposes taking the army to the very gates of Mordor, to distract Sauron and give Frodo and Sam a chance to complete their mission of destroying the ring.
6. (1987) 'Never go in against a Sicillian when death is on the line. Hahahaha.' - Vizzini (played by Wallace Shawn)

Answer: The Princess Bride

Prince Humperdinck has hired Vizzini and his men to kidnap and murder his fiancée, making it look like the murder was politically motivated. What he didn't count on was the Princess' true love coming to her rescue. This mysterious man in black has defeated both of Vizzini's henchmen, and now must face Vizzini in a battle of wits.
7. (1995) 'Roger that Ken. Are the flowers blooming in Houston?' - Jim Lovell 'That's a negative Jim. I do not have the measles.' - Ken Mattingly

Answer: Apollo 13

Ron Howard directed this amazing movie about the ill-fated Apollo 13 moon mission in 1970. These lines are delivered near the end of the movie when Ken Mattingly gives them the procedure for turning on all the systems that had been turned off to preserve energy. Mattingly had been pulled from the mission because he had been exposed to German Measles, and might have gotten sick while in space.

This ended up being rather fortuitous since Ken's efforts were largely responsible for bringing them home safely.
8. (1985) 'Be careful out there among those English.' - Eli Lapp (played by Jan Rubes)

Answer: Witness

A young Amish boy witnesses the brutal murder of a police officer in the bathroom of a train station. When the detective working on the case realizes exactly what's going on, he takes the boy and his mother back to their community to keep them safe. The boy's grandfather is very suspicious of anything outside of the community, and says this whenever anyone needs to leave and interact with the real world.
9. (1977) 'Travelling through hyper-space ain't like dusting crops boy.' - Han Solo (played by Harrison Ford)

Answer: Star Wars

Luke Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi have just hired Han Solo to take them and the two droids to Alderon, to return the plans of the Death Star to the princess. As they blast off from the space station, Han finds Imperial Cruisers ready to block their escape.

This quote is Han's defensive response to Luke's remark about the ship being fast. This was the first movie in the epic saga of the battle to wrest control away from the evil Empire, and restore peace and order to the universe.
10. (2000) 'Do they teach beauty queens how to apologize? Because you suck at it.' - Ed Masry (played by Albert Finney)

Answer: Erin Brockovich

A single mother with three children bullies her lawyer first into hiring her, and then into taking on class action law suit against a power company that knowingly poisoned the environment around its plant, causing all kinds of health issues for the people living nearby.

After much hard work they win their case, and Ed presents Erin with a bonus cheque, which 'isn't exactly for the amount that they discussed'. Erin gets all upset about this, until she sees that the amount is actually more than what she was expecting. That's when Ed delivers this line.
