Sean Connery was cast in "Highlander" as Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez. Christopher Lambert had the dual role of Connor "The Highlander" MacLeod and Russell Edwin Nash. In the film, Connery's character taught The Highlander swordsmanship but was eventually killed by Connor's enemy, Kurgan. Connor learned he was immortal. The movie revealed various encounters the Scotsman had had from the 16th century until a climactic battle in New York city in 1985.
"Colors" was a 1988 film featuring Robert Duvall and Sean Penn as police officers in Los Angeles trying to prevent violence between the Crips and Bloods.
"Excalibur" was a 1981 fantasy film about King Arthur and featured Nigel Terry as Arthur.

There were four "Halloween" movies released in the eighties. "Halloween II" was released in 1981. "Halloween III: Season of the Witch" premiered in 1982, "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers" in 1988 and finally "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers" in 1989 completed the series' sequels in the eighties. "Halloween H20" was released in 1998 as the 20th anniversary of the original and Jamie Lee Curtis returned for that sequel.
There were three "Porky's" films in the eighties. The first was the original "Porky's" in 1982. It was followed by "Porky's II: The Next Day" the following year and "Porky's Revenge" in 1985.
The "Rocky" series began in the seventies. Only two were released in the eighties, "Rocky III" (1982)and "Rocky IV" (1985). The original "Poltergeist" came out in 1982. "Poltergeist II: The Other Side" came out in 1986 and "Poltergeist III" in 1988 for a total of three.
"Caddyshack" (1980) also had a followup in 1988 titled "Caddyshack II".
There were also three "Superman" sequels in the eighties as well as a 1984 release, "Supergirl".

Steve Martin wrote the screenplay for "Roxanne", which was based on the classic tale of Cyrano de Bergerac. He also performed all his own stunts. Daryl Hannah and Rick Rossovich rounded out the principal cast and formed the story's love triangle. The articulate Steve coached another man, when the man romanced Hannah's character, but Martin ended up falling for her. Shelley Duvall was cast as a barmaid and Fred Willard played the town's mayor. Although the film was shot in British Columbia the setting was the American Pacific Northwest.
"Scarred" was a 1984 film about a teenage prostitute.
The 1988 film, "Celia" dealt with a young girl in Australia.
"Gloria" was released in 1980 and was a John Cassavetes film about the girlfriend of a gangster being sought by the mob after a killing.

"Yellowbeard" was a 1983 film about a fictional pirate released from prison in hopes that he would lead authorities to his hidden treasure. Cheech Marin, Graham Chapman and Peter Boyle headed up the cast.
"Vincent" was a Tim Burton movie about a fictional character named Vincent Malloy who daydreamed about being like Vincent Price. Price actually narrated the 1982 film
