'The Long Good Friday' was the first starring role for Bob Hoskins, with Helen Mirren as his co-star. Much of the film's plot involves dealings with the Irish Republican Army (IRA), so Pierce would have been able to use his native accent.

While both McQueen and Brosnan played a character named Thomas Crown, the insurance investigator in the original film was named Vicki Anderson, with Renee Russo portraying Catherine Banning. The crime committed in each film was different too, with the first one being a bank robbery and the second an art theft, but the motivation was identical, with Crown enjoying the thrill of outwitting police and other investigators.

Faye Dunaway was in the 1968 film.

Although Dalton warns his superiors that the volcano is likely to erupt, his concerns are dismissed, leading to disaster when the townspeople are caught in the lava flows correctly predicted. Critics panned the film, but it was moderately successful with the public.

Answer: King Arthur

'Quest for Camelot' was an animated musical about the Arthurian legends, but was based on the novel The King's Damosel by Vera Chapman. It follows the story of how the daughter of one of King Arthur's knights (Sir Lionel, voiced by Gabriel Byrne) and a blind hermit named Garrett (Cary Elwes) manage to end up with their own seats at the Round Table.

King Arthur himself was voiced by Pierce Brosnan (although Arthur's singing was done by another actor), while the magician Merlin was voiced by Sir John Gielgud.

Answer: The Matador

'The Matador' starred Pierce Brosnan as hitman Julian Noble and Greg Kinnear as a businessman named Danny Wright. The pair meet in a bar in Mexico and strike up an unlikely friendship, albeit one that suffers when Julian attempts to enlist Danny's help with some of his 'jobs'. In the end Danny helps Julian with the assassination of his boss - which frees Julian up to enjoy a peaceful retirement. Although Brosnan was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a musical or comedy, he lost out to Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal of Johnny Cash in 'Walk the Line'.

The film is among the best known of many to star Robin Williams. In 'Mrs Doubtfire' he dresses up as an elderly housekeeper so he can spend time with his children. His estranged wife, played by Sally Field, has acquired a new boyfriend by the name of Stu Dunmeyer, which is where Pierce Brosnan comes in. All the options listed starred Robin Williams, but only 'Mrs Doubtfire' also included Brosnan in the cast.

The plot of 'Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again' flitted backwards and forwards between the present day and the events of the 1970s that were hinted at in the original film. In the present day Pierce Brosnan's character had become one of the three possible grandfathers of Sophie Sheridan's new baby (in addition to being one of Sophie's three possible fathers in 'Mamma Mia'). In the past, the story covered how a young Sam (played by Jeremy Irvine) had met and lost Donna Sheridan, was portrayed. Brosnan's performance of 'SOS' - particularly the lines "When you're gone, how can I even try to go on" - were about Sam's attempts to come to terms with living without Donna in the future.
