In this, what has been called the first 'tech-noir' film, we are also treated to an excellent cast that includes Michael Biehn, Linda Hamilton, Paul Winfield and Lance Henriksen. James Cameron regular Bill Paxton also appears in a bit part as the leader of a group of toughs who confront the Terminator character towards the beginning of the film.

'The Killing Fields' won an Oscar for Haing S. Ngor, who submitted an amazing performance as Dith Pran. Roland Joffé directed this film that also included Sam Waterston, John Malkovich, Julian Sands and Craig T. Nelson, among others, in its cast.
4. Rob Reiner directed one of the year's best in 1984, namely the grandfather of all mockumentaries, 'This is Spinal Tap'. Which of these individuals is not a member of this phony, but nonetheless hard rocking band?

Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer play St. Hubbins, Tufnel and Smalls, respectively. They also shared writing credits for the film with Rob Reiner. Keep an eye out for Dana Carvey and Billy Crystal in bit parts in this hilarious film that actually features some good music!

'A Passage to India' was based on the E.M. Forster novel of the same title. Judy Davis, who apparently did not get along well with the director, plays the lead role. Alec Guinness once again appears in this movie, his sixth with Lean. Some of the others: 'The Bridge on the River Kwai', 'Doctor Zhivago' and 'Lawrence of Arabia'.
6. In the Wim Wenders film 'Paris, Texas', which of these actors appeared in the role of Travis, a lost and lonely man who seeks out the mother of the son he has left in the care of his brother?

Harry Dean Stanton is wonderfully vulnerable in his role as Travis, while Nastassja Kinski gave the best performance of her career as his former lover Jane. Wim Wenders, German director of films such as 'Wings of Desire', does a masterful job here.

Answer: Sergio Leone

Better known for his 'Spaghetti Westerns', Sergio Leone proved he could do a good American gangster film as well. This was Leone's last film, and a grand spectacle it was. Among Leone's other great films were 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' and 'Once Upon a Time in the West'.

This was the first film directed by the Coen brothers, and what a film it was. They would go on to create such classics as 'Raising Arizona' and 'Fargo'. Naturally, Francis McDormand, a Coen brother regular, appeared in this film, as did Dan Hedaya, M. Emmet Walsh and several others. Worth a watch!

Harry Dean Stanton appears in this film as well as a grizzled, veteran repo man. The bright-eyed Emilio Estevez shines as Otto, a disaffected youth who encounters the weirdest of the weird after taking his new job. One of the great cult films of all-time!
