Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I was a simpleton but had a very interesting life. I was a football star, an army hero, ping pong champion and shrimping tycoon. I met several U.S. Presidents and famous musicians, such as Elvis Presley and John Lennon. I also ran around the country for three years and helped a few people along the way. Who was I?

Answer: Forrest Gump

Tom Hanks starred as Forrest Gump, a simple-minded, but good-hearted, Southerner. He told the story of his life to many passersby while sitting on a bench waiting for a bus.
2. I gave Forrest very sage advice with wise words, such as "life is like a box of chocolates" and "stupid is as stupid does". I was diagnosed with cancer and told Forrest it was my time. Who was I?

Answer: Mrs. Gump

Sally Field starred as Forrest's loving mother. She did her best to make Forrest feel he was just as good as everyone else, despite a low I.Q. and the need to wear leg braces.
3. I let Forrest sit with me on the bus on our first day of school. We were constant companions since then. I prayed that God would turn me into a bird so I could fly from my abusive father. I bore Forrest's child, Forrest Jr. and we got married. I died not long after that. Who was I?

Answer: Jenny

Robin Wright Penn landed the part of Jenny. Jenny invited Forrest to sit on the school bus with her after every other kid refused. They had a conversation on the way to school that morning and were inseparable after that. Sadly, Jenny became a playgirl in her adult life and died at a young age.

After she died, Forrest buried her in his backyard and had the house she grew up in condemned, due to painful childhood memories of her father.
4. Benjamin Buford Blue is my given name. I sat with Forrest on the bus during our induction to the U.S. Army. I planned to become a shrimp boat captain but instead died in Vietnam, despite Forrest's attempts to save me. Which of Forrest's good friends was I?

Answer: Bubba

Bubba and Forrest became fast friends during their service in the Army. In fact, Forrest planned to become Bubba's first mate on his shrimp boat. Bubba's family also had a history of cooking shrimp. Forrest fulfilled his promise to take over Bubba's boat and after a major storm, caught several different kinds of shrimp, then gave Bubba's share of the profits to his family.

He named his shrimp company "Bubba Gump Shrimp".
5. Forrest saved me from getting killed by the Viet Cong, although I ordered him to let me stay. I lost my legs during the mayhem. I later developed a drinking problem but became very good friends with Forrest. I even became his first mate on his shrimping boat. Who was I?

Answer: Lieutenant Dan

Lieutenant Dan was Forrest and Bubba's commanding officer. He had ancestors who died in every American war. He was bitter because he believed it was his destiny to die in the war and thought Forrest cheated him of that. After becoming his first mate on the ship, Lieutenant Dan invested the money from Bubba Gump Shrimp into Apple Computers, making Forrest a huge fortune.
6. I drove Forrest to school on his first day. He said he didn't take rides from strangers but when I introduced myself he said we weren't strangers anymore. I also drove Forrest's son to school. Who was I?

Answer: Dorothy Harris

Dorothy Harris was the bus driver. She was played by Siobhan Fallon Hogan. Apparently Forrest got to know her well because when his son started school he knew right away who she was.
7. Forrest met me when he became an All-American. When I asked him how he felt, he said he had to pee. What famous person was I?

Answer: President Kennedy

When Forrest made the All-American football team, he went to the White House and met JFK. While there, he drank a bunch of Dr. Peppers. When he went to shake hands with Kennedy, he was asked how he felt to be an All-American. Forrest replied, 'I gotta pee,' causing Kennedy to laugh.
8. I met Forrest on "The Dick Cavett Show". He was talking about ping-pong experiences in China. I quoted lyrics to one of my more famous songs. Who was I?

Answer: John Lennon

Former Beatle John Lennon was the guest on Dick Cavett's show, along with Forrest. When Forrest mentioned the Chinese had hardly any belongings and didn't go to church, Lennon used lyrics to his song "Imagine", i.e. "no possessions, no religion too". When Cavett said it was hard to imagine, Lennon answered, "It's easy if you try."
9. Forrest went to visit me at the White House. He showed me a bullet wound in his buttock. Who was I?

Answer: President Johnson

Forrest showed the President the hole in his buttock. He later said it was a million-dollar wound, although he never received any money for it. He did meet President Nixon later and told him he was staying at a shady hotel. Nixon arranged for him to stay at a nicer hotel.

However, the hotel was located across from the Watergate building and Forrest reported to security that a bunch of people kept him awake with flashlights. This turned out to be the break-in scandal that led to Nixon's resignation.
10. I didn't meet Forrest until later in the movie. When we did meet, I was watching "Sesame Street". Jenny was my mother and Forrest raised me after she died. Which character was I?

Answer: Forrest Jr.

After Forrest ran around the country for three years, Jenny wanted to see him. She was living in Georgia and told him about Forrest Jr., who was the consequence of a passionate night between Forrest and Jenny. Unlike Forrest, Forrest Jr. was very intelligent.
