Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Jean Grey is the first official member of the X-Men team.

Answer: False

She is the first mutant ever taken in by Charles Xavier (as seen in the opening scene), however she does not join the X-Men until much later when the team is already forming. Cyclops, although he came to Xavier's school after Jean, is the first official X-Man.
2. Which X-Man cannot control the full extent of his or her powers?

Answer: Jean Grey

Jean Grey has psionic powers that allow her to mentally manipulate matter. Basically she has the power of telekinesis. At first, her powers are limited to manipulating people and large objects, but later we see that she can even separate individual atoms and molecules, essentially disintegrating the objects they make up. Professor X mentions that she is potentially the most powerful mutant he has ever come across, and that she never had proper control over her full powers.

As a result he had to put up some mental barriers to keep her from harming herself or others.

This is actually the basic premise for most of the story in "X-3", as she inexplicably returns from the dead, now more in touch with her full power. When she is returned to the mansion and mentally sedated by Professor X, he warns Wolverine against waking her up, stating that her subconscious self (known as the Phoenix) is a danger to everyone because it is uncontrollable.

Her more latent powers function on base instincts like anger and ecstasy (she "accidentally" kills Cyclops when she first rises from Alkali Lake and kisses him). Furthermore, that alter-ego seems unaware of its own destructive power. Wolverine diasgrees with Prof. X "manipulating" Jean's mind, and visits her alone.

The Phoenix then wakes up, knocks out Wolverine and disappears from the mansion, only to turn up later alongside Magneto at her childhood home. Contrary to Prof. X, Magneto wants Jean to tap into her full power, unaware of the dangers in doing so. His recklessness in handling Jean results in her killing Professor X. He was trying to bring her back to the mansion to help her (although it is unclear whether he is actually dead or perhaps disembodied, given the hidden ending after the closing credits).
3. Which X-Man is actually happy to hear about the cure, and voluntarily reports to receive it?

Answer: Rogue

Rogue's mutant powers have always been more of a curse than a blessing to her. She has the power to absorb someone's lifeforce and a mutant's powers by direct touch. Her powers first manifest in the original "X-Men", when she kisses her boyfriend and inadvertently leaves him in a coma.

She is forced to wear gloves at all times in order not to harm the people close to her. By "X-3", she is miserable about not being able to have direct contact with her new boyfriend Iceman. When she hears about the cure, she is the only one at Professor X's mansion to welcome the news, and she goes to get cured.

At the end of the movie, this is confirmed when she takes off her gloves and holds Iceman's hand for the first time.
4. Magneto is the only mutant in the Brotherhood with powers over class 3.

Answer: False

This is mentioned when Magneto first shows up to recruit mutants at the underground rally. According to Callisto, none of the mutants present is over a class 3, except for Magneto and Pyro. Also, it's unclear which class Juggernaut and Multiple Man are in, but they are pretty powerful, plus they are Magneto's main henchmen, so it is likely they are in a higher class as well (class 5 being the highest).
5. Which of these mutants is NOT rescued from the prison transport convoy by Magneto?

Answer: Callisto

Magneto and Pyro initially set out to retrieve Mystique, but once inside the reinforced "paddywagon" they release and recruit Multiple Man (who can create numerous independent copies of himself) and Juggernaut (who is completely unstoppable once he gains any momentum).

In this scene, one of the guards manages to fire a desperation shot at Mystique, injecting her with cure, leaving her powerless and naked. Magneto promptly turns his back on her as he now considers her "one of them" - a mere human. For those who may think Mystique doesn't apply because she is left behind, she does still get rescued from captivity, whereas Callisto isn't even in this scene.
6. Over the course of the movie, certain mutants "impart" their power to someone else for various reasons. Which doesn't occur?

Answer: Kitty phases Jimmy (Leech)

Colossus passes on his steel skin to Rogue in the opening scene to protect her from gunfire, although it this is due to Rogue's power absorption abilities, not Colossus' power. For instance, Kitty can pass her phasing abilities (walking through solid objects) to anyone she touches.

She does so with Iceman on two occasions, as well as with Juggernaut to slow him down by tripping him halfway through the floor). This allows them to pass through solids as well. Kitty never phases Jimmy with her, of course, because his special power is to nullify all nearby mutant powers.
7. Which one of Magneto's mutants eventually develops a grudge against Storm?

Answer: Callisto

Callisto's mutant powers allow her to move at blinding speeds. She first comes across Storm at Jean Grey's house when Professor X is meeting with Jean and Magneto. Storm becomes her opponent of choice after they fight in the house. At first, Storm is caught off-guard by her speed. Toward the end, when the X-Men are making their "last stand" against Magneto and his army, Callisto sees Storm and smiles at the opportunity for another round. Unfortunately for Cal, Storm gets the better of her and electrocutes her to death.
8. Who does Magneto call upon when his powers prove useless against the army's plastic guns?

Answer: Arclight

Arclight has the power to generate massive shockwaves by clapping her hands together, which can shatter or knock over anything within a medium range of her. When Magneto realizes the army has wised up to his control over all things metallic like guns and supplied plastic weapons, he has Arclight use her shockwaves to shatter them to bits.
9. What are Magneto's last words as he is running from Jean/Phoenix after losing his powers?

Answer: What have I done

When he still had his powers, Magneto thought he could use Jean for his war on humans, and had heedlessly encouraged her to "be what she is" despite Professor X's earlier warnings. After being injected with the cure by Beast and left a mere human, he is shown running for his life from Jean/Phoenix's rampage of destruction, finally realizing what a monster he has helped create.
10. Magneto is left 100% powerless after being injected with the cure.

Answer: False

In the final scene, we see Eric Lenscherr (formerly Magneto) sitting in a park at the chess table where he used to play against Professor X, staring pathetically at the chessboard like a broken man. We see him aiming his hand at one of the (presumably) metallic chess pieces, trying to summon up his power again. What many people may not have noticed, is that the chess piece DOES move, although maybe about one millimeter (at which point the credits start rolling).

This suggests that he does have some tiny vestige of his powers left, which hints that Magneto is not totally gone.

This, no doubt, is a setup for an upcoming sequel.
