Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was the drummer for Rush's debut album?

Answer: John Rutsey

This album was John Rutsey's only appearance on a Rush album. Due to diabetes, Rutsey left the band and was replaced by Neil Peart. Rutsey died May 11, 2008, because of a heart attack related to diabetes.
2. What song on "Rush" was written solely by Geddy Lee?

Answer: "In The Mood"

All songs on the album except for "In The Mood" were written by Lee and Lifeson together.
3. What color was the original text on the cover of "Rush" supposed to be?

Answer: Red

The original color of the album was red, but a printing error made it appear more pink in color.
4. What image is on the "Rush" album cover?

Answer: The word 'RUSH' with rocks and debris in the background

The cover of Rush's second album "Fly By Night" is an owl, the naked man punching a star is the back cover for "2112", and a boy kicking a skull is the cover of "Roll The Bones."
5. What was the name of the independent record company that was created by the band to release their first album?

Answer: Moon Records

The band could not find a label, so their management created their own so that Rush could release their debut album.
6. What two songs on "Rush" are over 7 minutes long?

Answer: "Working Man" and "Here Again"

With "Working Man" at 7:10 in length and "Here Again" at 7:48, these two songs paved the way for later, much longer, Rush epics.
7. What radio station helped popularize Rush's self titled album?

Answer: WMMS

When "Rush" was picked up by radio DJ Donna Halper of Cleveland's WMMS, she started to play it on the radio. As a result, the band gained popularity and the song "Working Man" became a hit.
8. What song on "Rush" do these lyrics come from: "Love won't see me comin' On a Sunday noon today Still don't believe we're fadin' But now the world should wait" ?

Answer: Before And After

The song "Before And After" starts with a soft two minute instrumental prelude before breaking out into a Led Zeppelin influenced tune.
9. What song on "Rush" contains these lyrics: "I've been gone so long I've lost count of the years Well, I sang some sad songs Oh yes, and cried some bad tears" ?

Answer: Finding My Way

"Finding My Way", along with "Working Man", have become some of the most popular songs off of Rush's debut album.
10. What is the title of the famous bootleg recording that features these songs played live (never officially released)?

Answer: The Fifth Order Of Angels

Rush Live '75, Live From Lakeside Park, and Keys Of The Kings are all fake. The Fifth Order Of Angels is one of the most famous Rush bootlegs. Here is the track listing of The Fifth Order Of Angels (according to Wikipedia):

1. Intro/Announcer - 0:30
2. Finding My Way - 5:07
3. Best I Can - 3:04
4. Need Some Love - 3:24
5. In the End - 6:19
6. Fancy Dancer - 3:55
7. In the Mood - 3:25
8. Bad Boy (Larry Williams cover) - 5:41
9. Here Again - 8:03
Medley:
10. Working Man - 9:14
11. Drum solo - 3:10
12. What You're Doing - 4:33
13. Garden Road - 3:07

Note that tracks 3 and 5 were later released on the "Fly By Night" album, while other tracks were never released at all by the band. This is also the first recorded live performance featuring drummer Neil Peart, as John Rutsey had already left the band.
