Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Frank Sinatra once said that this song was his favourite McCartney/Lennon song. What George Harrison song was Sinatra referring to?

Answer: Something

"Something" is the only Beatles song that Sinatra has sung and performed - he simply called it "the greatest love song ever written". However, he tended to give the credits for the song to McCartney/Lennon, when he performed "Something", even though it was a George Harrison song.
2. Who plays the guitar solo on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"?

Answer: Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton and George Harrison were very close friends. Their friendship lasted until George Harrison's death even though they were once in love with the same girl; George Harrison's wife Patti Boyd. Later Boyd married Clapton.
3. The double album "The White Album" consists of 30 very different songs. How many of the tracks are written by Harrison on the "White Album"?

Answer: 4

The four songs on the album are: "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Piggies", "Long, Long, Long", "Savoy Truffle". Ringo Starr wrote one of the songs. The 25 remaining songs are all Lennon/McCartney compositions.
4. Name the George Harrison song of these four Beatles songs.

Answer: Within You, Without You

"Within You, Without You" was on 'Sgt. Pepper', while on the "Anthology 2" album an instrumental version of this track can be found. "Don't Pass Me By" is written by Ringo Starr. "Tomorrow Never Knows" and "Your Mother Should Know" is by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
5. In which song does Harrison say "Go Johnny Go" during the slide part?

Answer: For You Blue

George Harrison wrote "For You Blue" to his wife Patti Boyd. "For You Blue" was not the only song written about Boyd. For instance "Something" and the two major Eric Clapton hits "Wonderful Tonight" and "Layla" were also dedicated to Patti Boyd.
6. What song is also the name of George Harrison's autobiography?

Answer: I Me Mine

"I Me Mine" can be found on the album "Let It Be" or "Let It Be...Naked". It was actually the last song the Beatles recorded as a band even though John Lennon was absent because he was on holiday with Yoko Ono.
7. Which of the four Harrison songs appears on the "Magical Mystery Tour" album?

Answer: Blue Jay Way

George Harrison wrote "Blue Jay Way" while he was waiting at his friend Derek Taylor on a street named "Blue Jay Way". The line "Don't be long" is repeated 29 times throughout the song. "Taxman" and "Love You Too" are both from the "Revolver" album. "For You Blue" is from "Let It Be"
8. What was the name of the first recorded Beatles song that George Harrison wrote?

Answer: Don't Bother Me

"Don't Bother Me" appeared on the Beatles' second album "With the Beatles" from 1963. George Harrison wrote this song after it was claimed that he was not an important part of the group because he didn't write any songs. Gradually his song writing grew better and better, and eventually he was just as good as McCartney and Lennon.
9. True or False. "Something" is the only Harrison song that appears on the "1" album.

Answer: True

"Something" is the only song of the 27 tracks of the album which was NOT a Paul McCartney/John Lennon composition.
10. Which of these four Harrison songs can be found on a Beatles album (including nostalgic Beatles releases from well after the break-up)?

Answer: All Things Must Pass

"All Things Must Pass" is the name of Harrison's first solo record after the Beatles era. "All Things Must Pass" "My Sweet Lord" "Wah Wah", "Apple Scruffs" can all be found on this album from 1970. However, on "The Anthology 3" album a studio version of "All Things Must Pass" appears. Hope you enjoyed the quiz!
