Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which Black Sabbath album does NOT include any humans or humanoids on its cover?

Answer: TYR

Black Sabbath's self-titled debut album's cover features a mysterious woman, standing in the rain.

On "Dehumanizer"'s cover, there's a robot who sucks out the life of a man and turns him into a robot. It's Sabbath's sixteenth studio album.

On "The Eternal Idol"'s cover there's a statue of two naked people. It's the first studio album to feature Tony Martin on vocals.

"TYR"'s album cover doesn't feature any humans, only the black sky. It's a concept album about Norse mythology.
2. What does the front cover of "Master of Reality" feature?

Answer: Only the band's name and the title

"Master of Reality" was Black Sabbath's third studio album. The first editions of "Master of Reality" came in an "envelope sleeve" containing a poster of the band, and with the album's title embossed in black lettering, visible in relief. Later editions lacking the embossed printing would render the album title in grey, and some vinyl editions feature purple lettering.

This was the first Black Sabbath sleeve in which the lyrics were reproduced on the back of the sleeve.
3. Which studio album DOESN'T include any of the members on the front cover?

Answer: The Eternal Idol

On "Vol.4"'s cover there's a picture of Ozzy Osbourne in yellow. This was Sabbath's fourth studio album.

On the cover art of "Seventh Star", there's a picture of Tony Iommi. He was the only member who played on all of their albums. The "Seventh Star" album was supposed to be a Tony Iommi solo album, but the record company printed the Black Sabbath name on it to be easier to sell it. This was the only album to feature Glenn Hughes on vocals.

"Sabotage"'s album cover is a picture of the band members wearing weird dresses and standing in front of a mirror. It was Sabbath's sixth studio album. "Sabotage" is a huge fan favourite; a lot of fans (including me) say it's one of Sabbath's finest works. It includes many deep-cuts like, "Megalomania", "The Thrill of It All" and "The Writ".

The cover of "The Eternal Idol" is a picture of a statue of two naked people. It was the first Sabbath album to feature Tony Martin on vocals.
4. Which one of these front covers is Black Sabbath's?

Answer: A statue of two naked people

Two horses pulling a black carriage at night, is on the front cover of the famous King Diamond album, "Abigail". It was King Diamond's second solo album, and it's a concept album about a couple who moves into a house that is haunted by the ghost of Abigail.

The band members with devil horns on the top of their heads are on the cover of "Highway to Hell" which is an AC/DC album. Actually, only the guitarist, Angus Young, has horns. It was the last album to feature Bon Scott on vocals, who died soon after the album was released.

A monster holding the moon in his hand is the last Dio album cover, "Master of the Moon".

A statue of two naked people is the cover art of the thirteenth Black Sabbath studio album, "The Eternal Idol".
5. How many angels are smoking on the front cover of "Heaven and Hell"?

Answer: 3

"Heaven and Hell" was the ninth Black Sabbath studio album and the first to feature Ronnie James Dio on vocals. This was the first Black Sabbath album that was produced by the legendary producer, Martin Birch. The cover art was taken from a painting by artist Lynn Curlee, "Smoking Angels".
6. How many humanoids does the front cover of "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" feature?

Answer: 7

"Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" or "SBS" was the fifth Black Sabbath studio album. The cover art features six demons who are possessing or doing something evil, with a man (6+1=7). The album was released in 1973. The cover was designed by Drew Struzan.
7. Which Black Sabbath album's front cover features an angel with burning wings?

Answer: Cross Purposes

"Cross Purposes" is the seventeenth Black Sabbath studio album. It was the fourth album to feature Tony Martin on vocals. It was released in 1994. Eddie Van Halen has also played on the album; he played the solo in the song, "Evil Eye".
8. In the cover art of "Sabotage", what colour are the pants that Bill Ward wears?

Answer: Red

"Sabotage" was the sixth Sabbath album. The cover art features a picture of the band members standing in front of a mirror, wearing weird clothes. The idea of the cover art was conceived by Bill Ward's drum tech, who was also a graphic artist.

Ward, in fact, was wearing his wife's red tights in the photo. "The only thing we didn't discuss was what we'd all wear on the day of the shot. Since that shoot day, the band has survived through a tirade of clothing comments and jokes that continue to this day" said Ward in the book "How Black Was Our Sabbath".
9. What colour is the eye of the robot who sucks out the life of a guy on the front cover of "Dehumanizer"?

Answer: green

"Dehumanizer" was the third Black Sabbath studio album with Ronnie James Dio on vocals. The cover illustration was designed by Will Rees. It was released in 1992. The album is often credited as the heaviest Sabbath album. It features masterpieces like "Computer God", "After All (The Dead)", "Time Machine" and "I".
10. What colour are the nails of the baby on the front cover of "Born Again"?

Answer: yellow

"Born Again" was Black Sabbath's eleventh studio album and the first and only to feature the former Deep Purple member, Ian Gillan. The art was designed by Steve Joule. "I didn't have any participation in the album cover," recalled Bill Ward in 1996 in "Southern Cross" Sabbath fan magazine. "When I saw it, I hated it." It was released in 1983 and it was the last studio album with Bill Ward on the drums.
