Rick Moranis and Geddy Lee from Rush were childhood friends. Bob and Doug McKenzie recorded a song with Geddy Lee called "Take Off" that would peak at 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1981.

They argue "On the twelfth day, you could have got me a dozen doughnuts." Bob says, "you could have gone down to, like, the good doughnut shop, where if you buy a dozen, you get another one free, then thirteen for the thirteen days of Christmas."
