Music Quiz: Colorful songs: 10 Questions | Something in Common

Answer: yellow

When I wrote this quiz, I suspected that it would be fairly easy. You just need to know one of the songs referred to in each question to get the color.
In this case, the songs are "Big Yellow Taxi," "Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'Round the old Oak Tree," and "Yellow Submarine."

Answer: green

"Green Tamborine" by the Lemon Pipers, "Green Eyes," by Coldplay, and
"Green Onions" by Booker T. and the M.G.'s. "Tamborine" was from the '60's and was probably the only hit for these guys. "Onions" was the first od several hits for Booker T.

Answer: brown

"Brown Sugar" was performed by the Rolling Stones. Peter Noone was the lead singer from Herman's Hermits who performed "Mrs. Brown you've got a Lovely Daughter." Van Morrison sang "Brown-eyed Girl."

Answer: black

"Black Dog" by Led Zeppelin. "Black Water" by the Doobie Brothers.
"Black is Black" by Los Bravos. The lyrics to "Black Dog" never mention a black dog.

Answer: blue

"Blue Bayou" was written by Roy Orbison and released in the early '60's. It was later released by Linda Ronstadt in the late
'70's and was just as successful. Bobby Vinton sang "Blue Velvet."
I thought about using Elvis Presley's "Blue Hawaii" instead of "Blue Christmas" but I thought that the question would be more confusing for people who have not caught on to this theme yet.

Answer: pink

"Pink Cadillac" is by Bruce Springsteen and "Pink Houses" is by John Cougar Mellencamp. Marty Robbins performed "A White Sport Coat and a Pink Carnation" (I believe that the "pink carnation" in Don MacLean's
"American Pie" is a reference to this song).

Answer: silver

"Silver Rocket," "Silver Lady," and "Silver Girl" are the songs. There were several other songs with the word silver in their title but in some cases it was probably a reference to the metal rather than the color.

Answer: red

"Lady in Red," "Red, Red Wine," and "Red Sails in the Sunset" are the songs being referred to in this question. "Red Sails in the Sunset" is also the only song to reach #1 twice in the same year performed by two different artists (In 1935 Bing Crosby's version and Guy Lombardo's instrumental version both reached #1).

Answer: white

"White Wedding" was performed by Billy Idol and "Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum. The Beatles' album is frequently referred to as "The White Album" because the cover was solid white when it came out.

Answer: purple

The songs are "Purple Rain" by Prince, "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix, and "Purple People-Eater" by Sheb Wooley. Purple is probably the only thing that these songs have in common.
