"Lyin Eyes" was released in the U.S in 1975 on the "One of These Nights" album. It was written by Don Henley and Glenn Frey. The theme for the song came as Frey and Henley were eating at a restaurant. They saw a beautiful woman with a fat wealthy man. Knowing that she was "gold digging", Frey said, "Look, she can't even hide her Lyin Eyes". Thus, the song was born.

Answer: Something

"Something" was released in the U.S in 1969 on the "Abbey Road" album. It was written by George Harrison. The song is considered a love song from George to his first wife, Patti Boyd. It is also the first Harrison-written song to become an "A-Side Single" during his Beatles career.

Bassist Benjamin Orr sang vocals on the track. Unknown to many fans is the fact that Orr is the lead singer on most of their hits, and not Ric Ocasek.

The title was a play on words of the film "Easy Rider". The movie follows a separate, but similar journey of counterculture characters.

This song gained even more popularity 15 years or so later with its inclusion on George Lucas' "American Graffiti" soundtrack.

"Whipping Post" was released in the U.S in 1969 on The Allman Brothers' self titled debut album. It was written by Gregg Allman. Gregg struggled, and almost quit the music industry in the late 60s. However, his brother Duane asked him to write a few songs for Duane's band. One of those songs was "Whipping Post". Gregg apparently wrote the song quickly on an ironing board at his apartment, and gave it to his brother.

The Allman Brothers Band was thus born.

"I Got a Name" was released in the U.S in 1974 on the album of the same title. It happens to be one of the rare songs Croce recorded that he did not pen. It was written by Norman Gimbel. Jim's affinity for the song came from his father's dream for Jim to become famous. However, his father died before Croce fulfilled that aspiration.

At the end of this song we find that, "this mountain wild man" in the song is the narrator's father.

"Some Heads Are Gonna Roll" was released in the U.S in 1984 on the "Defenders of the Faith" album. It was written by Bob Halligan Jr. After the terrorist attacks on 9/11 this song made Clear Channel Communications' (the largest owner of radio stations in the U.S.A) list of banned songs to play in the aftermath of those horrific attacks.

Claiming it to be a set of sonnets, with seven stanzas of 14 lines, and containing a volta after every eighth line. Mighty complex, for what Dylan called a "simple song".

"Rip it Up" was released in the U.S in 1956 as a single, but appeared on the "Here's Little Richard" album in 1957. It was written by Robert Blackwell and John Marascalco. This same song was performed by Bill Haley and the Comets a year earlier, but did not see the success of Little Richard's version.

The song was originally titled "Beck", about a band mate's wife, named Becky. She had a twin named Beth. Thus, the title was changed to avoid confusion as to what "Beck" meant, and to be more easily sung.

"Turn the Page" was released in the U.S in 1973 on the "Back in 72" album. It was written by Bob Seger. The song was inspired by a late night visit to a truck stop diner. Bob and his fellow band members all had long hair, and all the truckers were using, "the same old cliches/ is that a woman or a man". Just like the later lyrics in the song.

Joey never had a driver's licence, but always had a new Cadillac with a beautiful lady chauffeuring him around.

Mr. Christian was a well known Los Angeles area radio disc jockey. Roger gave Wilson what he had written, and after going home, Brian finished the song in about an hour.
