Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Exactly what was the moron's wife doing in "Flakes"?

Answer: Frosting a cake

"Flakes" was Frank's ode to all the stupid people we have to contend with on a daily basis, which first appeared on the "Sheik Yerbouti" album.
2. What was the name of the giant poodle-dog that was attacking the nuclear power plant in the song "Cheepnis"?

Answer: Frunobulax

Frunobulax was based on Frank's daughter's poodle (which was named Frenchy). "Cheepnis" initially appeared on "Roxy and Elsewhere".
3. What was the name of the horse that Frank planned to ride while raising a crop of dental floss in "Montana"?

Answer: Mighty Little

"Montana" was one of the highlights off of the "Overnite Sensation" album.
4. What is the correct answer to the following question: "Hey punk, where you goin' with that button on your shirt?"

Answer: "Well, I'm goin' to a love-in to sit and play my bongos in the dirt"

This question was one of several asked in "Flower Punk", which can be found on the Mothers of Invention's classic "We're Only In It For the Money" album.
5. What was the name of the town that planned ahead for the bicentennial on the "Bongo Fury" album?

Answer: Poofter's Froth

"Poofter's Froth Wyoming Plans Ahead" was a great satire on commercialism that featured vocals by the legendary Captain Beefheart (who also uses the name Don Van Vliet).
6. According to the lyrics of the original version of "The Mudd Club", what dance do a few of the 'Fabulous Poodles' do for real?

Answer: The Peppermint Twist

This excellent satire on the club-going public of the eighties can be found on "You Are What You Is". A slightly different version was featured on "Thing-Fish".
7. Greggary Peccary took a long time to make it onto an album. When he finally did, he found himself meeting up with another Frank Zappa character, who had also been immortalized in song. What was that character's name?

Answer: Billy the Mountain

Frank Zappa had begun writing "The Adventures of Greggary Peccary" back in the early days of the Mothers of Invention, but never got around to actually issuing a recording of it until "Studio Tan" in 1978.

"Billy the Mountain" first appeared in song as the opening cut on 1972's "Just Another Band From L.A.".
8. What is "Lonesome Cowboy Burt"'s actual occupation?

Answer: He's a roofer.

In "200 Motels", Burt is quite proud that he's a "unionized roofin' old son-of-a-gun". Burt was, of course, played by Jimmy Carl Black (the Indian of the group).
9. "They were mellow, they were yellow, they were wearing smelly blankets", so obviously, they looked like fans of which recording star?

Answer: Donovan

Those lines come from "We're Turning Again", which can be found of "Frank Zappa Meets the Mothers of Prevention", with Ike Willis doing his usual hilarious job on the vocals.
10. Exactly how long has our lovestruck hero been loving "Sharleena"?

Answer: Ten years

"Sharleena" was one of the only songs that both Frank and his son Dweezil played on together. It appeared on "Them or Us", as well as a bootleg called "For Sharlena".
