Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The song is "I Wanna Rock" by Twisted Sister. The album is "Stay Hungry". The year is 1984. Dee Snider is famous as the lead singer, but who played drums for this band?

Answer: A.J. Pero

Eddie was the guitar player, Mark was the bassist and Tom was the producer of this album.
2. "Too Young to Fall in Love" is the next song this station plays. Motley Crue released this song on the "Shout at the Devil" album of 1983. This album showed greater musical range and talent of their debut album "Too Fast For Love". What cover song did Motley Crue attempt on "Shout at the Devil"?

Answer: "Helter Skelter" by The Beatles

Charles Manson decided that this song was to be the "call to arms" of what he believed would be an inevitable race war in the USA. Paul McCartney (who happened to write the song) apparently felt differently. The song is about an amusement park ride in England.

In fact, the word helter skelter, in England, refers to any tower-like structure used in amusement parks in which riders use mats to propel themselves down sliding surfaces to the bottom of the ride. Apparently, Charles Manson missed the mark on his interpretation of this song.

14. "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" is the staple hit from Judas Priest. The band replaced Halford with a Halford imitator and released the album "Jugulator". Who was this new lead singer?

Answer: Tim "Ripper" Owens

Tim Owens was in a Judas Priest tribute band from Ohio when Halford left. Judas Priest auditioned Owens and immediately knew they had found their replacement. Owens went on tour with the band, playing to sold out shows. If this sounds familiar, it should. The movie "Rock Star" is based loosely on how Owens replaced Halford in his favorite metal band.
15. David Lee Roth released his debut solo album in 1986. "Eat Em and Smile" featured the song "Yankee Rose", which happens to be played on this radio station. 19. Everyone is in love with Ozzy Osbourne these days due to the success of the reality show "The Osbournes". It really pains me to watch the way the show belittles the once great Ozzy into a blithering idiot. I remember when Ozzy was known more for his off stage antics than by how many piles of poop his Pomeranian makes. Where did Ozzy get in trouble for public urination?

Answer: The Alamo

On February 19, 1982, Ozzy was in San Antonio on tour and he got really drunk on Courvoisier. Because he was so drunk, his wife Sharon decided to lock his clothes in the hotel room so he could not go out and start trouble. He decided that since he didn't have his clothes, he would wear hers. So wearing an evening gown of Sharon's, he took to the town.

While at the Alamo taking photos of himself in drag, he decided he needed to urinate, so he did. Right on the Alamo. He was charged with defiling a national monument and was banned for ever performing in San Antonio again.

The ban has been lifted however.
20. Iron Maiden had a great run through the 1980's as what many consider to be the most intelligent song writing of all metal bands. Of all their albums, I think "Piece of Mind" is probably one of the best. Which of these are not Iron Maiden albums?

Answer: Stained Class

"Stained Class" would be a released by another great British metal band, Judas Priest. Bruce Dickinson left Iron Maiden for a bit and was replaced by Blayze Bayley (1995-1999). Dickinson returned to the Maiden and released the album "Brave New World" in 2000 on the Sony music label.
