Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of Tina Root's new band since her departure from Switchblade Symphony?

Answer: Tre'lux

Tina went onto form Tre'Lux while her ex-bandmate went onto work with Candymachine88.
2. What is the only gothic compilation box set from Cleopatra records to feature the band Lestat?

Answer: 'The Goth Box'

Though Lestat has several releases, all are hard to find due to their not having major label support. '?', from their 'Vision Of Sorrows' release, is the only track to make a gothic sampler.
3. What song did Cruxshadows cover on their 'Until The Voices Fade' CD?

Answer: 'Here Comes The Rain Again'

One of the hardest to find CD's for me was 'Until The Voices Fade'. You can sometimes try and nail it on ebay but the average end price seems to be between $50-$100
4. What band came as a spin off of Sisters of Mercy?

Answer: The Mission

The Mission formed after many disagreements with Andrew E. of Sisters of Mercy. Due to legal problems The Mission's release in the U.S. is actually labeled The Mission UK.
5. What classic B-side did The Cult not have on their retrospective CD 'Pure Cult'?

Answer: 'All Souls Ave.'

'All Souls Ave.' is ofen considered one of the band's best songs yet and is extremly hard to find. It originally appeared on the 'Revolution' EP.
6. What other name was the band Xymox known as?

Answer: 'Clan of Xymox'

I still dont know anything about Clan Of Xymox but I do have Xymox's 'Phoenix' and 'Twist Of Shadows' discs. The othe band names are all made up ones with a slight sence of humor.
7. Which band or artist did not come out of Bauhaus?

Answer: The Cramps

Love and Rockets had a top 10 hit with 'So Alive' from their self- titled release.
8. What song was the theme for the 80's horror movie 'The Hunger' which also stared David Bowie?

Answer: Bela Lugosi's Dead

It was weird that Bowie didn't do the theme instead.
9. What movie had no songs in the film, but had a gothic soundtrack that sampled PIL, Bauhaus and Type O Negative?

Answer: The Blair Witch Project

This is probably one of the best gothic samplers I own.
10. What is the first release from Projekt records to highlight female vocals in gothic and darkwave music?

Answer: 'Seireenia'

'Seireenia' is one of the most relaxing CD's out there, highlighting Lycia, Switchblade Symphony, and Faith And Disease. Stray and Mira are both gothic bands and not album names.
11. What vocalist combines sarcasm and wit to the dreariness of the world of gothic music and whose CD's are appropriately named 'The Devis Bris' and 'Almost Human'?

Answer: Voltaire

Voltaire adds sarcasm and wit to darkness and gypsy sounding music for an odd combination.
12. What is the name of the last Switchblade Symphony CD released as of 2004?

Answer: 'Sweet Little Witches'

'Sinister Nostalgia' was the band's supposed final release then they released Three little witches , a live retrospective spanning a few unreleased songs and band faves. Nistalgia is all remixes and re-done studio tracks with revised vocals. Every fan should own these CD.
13. What Arabic singer died of AIDS in 2000?

Answer: Ofra Haza

Though Ofra Haza wasn't Gothic, she often did etherial songs. She appeared on Cleopatra's tribute to Madonna CD doing 'Open Your Heart', and sang backup on the Sisters of Mercy's re-release of 'Temple Of Love' which was subtitled 'Touched By The Hand Of Ofra Haza'. She also did the theme song to the epic animated feature 'The Prince Of Egypt' and is sadly missed.
14. What band does Cher's son belong to?

Answer: Deadsy

Elijah Blue went onto form the band Deadsy. He also appears in Cher's video 'If I Could Turn Back Time'.
15. After Robert Smith's mental breakdown in the 80's, he went on to play guitar for Siouxsie And The Banshees and the same year also released an album with Steve Severin under the band name The Glove. What is the title of the CD from The Glove?

Answer: 'Blue Sunshine'

'Blue Sunshine' only featured Robert Smith's vocals on two songs 'Perfect Murder' and 'Mr. Alphabet Says'.
16. On the tribute to U2, 'We Will Follow' from Cleopatra records, what song does Rosetta Stone cover?

Answer: 'October'

Rosetta Stone did a very dark version of U2's 'October' and kept it very true to the original. 'New Years Day' was Frontline Assembly with Tiffany, Die Krupps did 'Numb' and Spahn Ranch did 'I Will Follow'.
17. What up and coming gothic band did 'Persephone' on Cleopatra's tribute to the Cocteau twins?

Answer: Diva Destruction

Diva Destruction sounds almost like a cross between Switchblade Symphony and Siouxsie And The Banshees. They also have appeared on the tribute to Radiohead and two 'Unquiet Grave' CD's.
18. What Killing Joke CD has the song 'Love Like Blood' on it?

Answer: 'Night Time'

One of the band's darkest and most haunting CD's, though not as slow as the 'Brighter Than 1000 Suns' CD.
19. What Rolling Stones song did The Sisters Of Mercy cover on their 'Some Girls Wander By Mistake' CD?

Answer: 'Gimme Shelter'

Their version of 'Gimme Shelter' blows the original away. When I DJ'ed once, and played it, I had around five people want to know what song I was playing.
20. Circle Of Dust's final song appeared only on the 'Carpe Noctem' CD sampler. What was the name of their last song?

Answer: 'Goodbye'

Goodbye only for now... Klay Scott has put all of his efforts into his latest project Celldweller. For more information go to www.dusted.com.
