Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many people are in the band?

Answer: Four

Helmet's been a four-piece since their early beginnings in the late 80s. The original line-up was Page Hamilton, vocals, guitar, Peter Mengede, Henry Bogdan, bass, and John Stanier, drums.
2. What's the slightly unusual forename of the Helmet mastermind who is also on the guitar, and lead singer?

Answer: Page

The Helmet mastermind was born as Page Hamilton on May 18th 1960 in Portland, Oregon.
3. Due to critics, what's the name of that Helmet-typical kind of music?

Answer: Jazzcore

When Helmet appeared in the late 80s, their listeners and critics couldn't really name their kind of music, because there hadn't been any kind of comparable music. So they spoke of their aggressive and jazz-influenced noise attacks as 'jazzcore'.
4. How many recordings did Helmet produce in the original line-up?

Answer: Six

There were six of them, the first EP 'Born Annoying' in 1989, their first album 'Strap It On' in 1991, the award-winning 'Meantime' in 1992, an expanded and re-recorded version of their first EP, 'Born Annoying 1993', the biggest success, 'Betty' in 1994 and their last album in the original line-up, 'Aftertaste' in 1997.
5. For 'Betty' in 1994, Page Hamilton appeared with a second forename. What was it?

Answer: Nye

I can't really tell why, but he is credited quite a few times with this second name during the time of the 'Betty' release.
6. According to Hamilton, Helmet broke up in 1998 and never really found a way back because of whom and why?

Answer: John Stanier ignoring any attempts to communicate or reconcile

According to Hamilton, John Stanier refused to talk to him because of various incidents. He stated that he himself would have been open to a Helmet reunion.
7. John Stanier started to work with what band after Helmet broke up in 1998?

Answer: All of these

After having trouble with his wrist and working as a DJ for one and a half years, he started working with all three bands stated above because he simply didn't know which band he favoured.
8. In 2002 Hamilton called some friends and created a band called Gandhi. They started touring along the east coast and recorded several songs. Which one of these didn't appear on the 2004 Helmet release 'Size Matters'?

Answer: Money Shot

In fact, there were two great Gandhi songs that didn't make it on the Helmet record, 'Money Shot' and 'Black Light'.
9. In 2004 Helmet is back with Hamilton, Chris Traynor, Frank Bello and John Tempesta. Since Frank Bello quit after the Anthrax reunion, Jeremy Chatelain joined to play bass. Did Chatelain marry the French singer Alizée?

Answer: No

Alizée did in fact marry some Jeremy Chatelain, but not the actual Helmet-bassist. It's just a weird coincidence that they share the same name.
10. In 1994, their most successful year, Hamilton played guitar for an Irish band. What's the name of that band and the song?

Answer: Therapy?, 'Unbeliever'

Hamilton liked Therapy? a lot since he watched them playing in the US after their huge success with the 1994 release 'Troublegum'. Both bands wanted to play together or just feature one of them from time to time, but never made it.
