Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A hit song by the country group Alabama in 1981 began with these lyrics: "Whisper to me softly, Three words upon my skin". What "Right" title goes with this popular song?

Answer: Feels So Right

This was Alabama's fourth straight number one single. From the album of the same name, it was also their first crossover hit, reaching number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the summer of 1981.
2. Elvis Presley's first commercial single was recorded at Sun Studios in Memphis when he was 19 years old. Can you name the "right" title? Perhaps your mother can help.

Answer: That's All Right (Mama)

This was Elvis Presley's first commercial single, recorded and released in 1954 at Sun Studios in Memphis. The song was written by Arthur Crudup and recorded by him in 1946. Later, in 1949, it was released as "That's All Right Mama". The Presley single lists the song as "That's All Right".

It was recorded on July 5, 1954 by Elvis and officially released on July 19th, although it had been played on some radio stations before that. The Presley single sold about 20,000 copies, making it a regional but not national hit.

It did, however, start him down the road to stardom.
3. "Sun goes down on a silky day; courtin' moon walkin' through the milky way". These lyrics begin what hit song from 1977 by Jennifer Warnes? (You can't really see the Milky Way in the daylight, can you?)

Answer: Right Time of the Night

Written by Peter McCann, "Right Time of the Night" was a hit for singer Jennifer Warnes, in 1977. The song was from her album titled "Jennifer Warnes" and was released as a single in December 1976. It would eventually reach number six on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as number one on the Billboard Easy Listening Chart.

This song was Warnes' first time on the charts although she had been recording for over nine years. She would build on this success, with hits like "I Know a Heartache When I See One" and "Up Where We Belong", a duet with Joe Cocker which was the theme song for the film "An Officer and a Gentleman".

She would also record "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" as a duet with Bill Medley for the soundtrack of "Dirty Dancing".
4. This Dr. John hit song was used on the soundtrack of the movie "Sahara". Can you name it? (Sometimes it isn't just where, but also when).

Answer: Right Place, Wrong Time

"Right Place, Wrong Time" is Dr. John's most famous song and is from the 1973 album, "In the Right Place". Dr. John (Mac Rebennack) is a long-time New Orleans musician known for blending jazz, zydeco, blues, and rock and roll into a unique musical sound.

Born in 1940, Dr. John has been a working musician since the 1950s and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. Answer: (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)

"(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)" is without doubt the most famous song by Beastie Boys. In some places the song title is shortened to "Fight for Your Right". The most ironic thing about this hit, is that it was written as a parody of party songs and that was totally lost on most of their fans, who view it as anything but a parody. Mike D (Michael Diamond), founding member of Beastie Boys, has said that he was upset that so many people sang along to the song and "were oblivious to the fact it was a total goof on them."
6. A Supertramp song that was meant to be a B side to a single released from the 1974 album "Crime of the Century"; this song was the more popular in the US. What is this "right" Supertramp gem? (sounds terribly British)

Answer: Bloody Well Right

7. This 1989 song by Richard Marx became his best selling single. Written as a love letter to his wife, what is the title of this huge hit? (Still here?)

Answer: Right Here Waiting

"Right Here Waiting" became Richard Marx' third consecutive number one song and also his best selling single. It was released from the album, "Repeat Offender", and was certified platinum in 1989.
8. "Friday night I crashed your party, Saturday I said I'm sorry Sunday came and trashed me out again" What is Billy Joel trying to tell you in this song? The title will help. Do you know it? (possibly you are correct)

Answer: You May Be Right

"You may be right,
I may be crazy,
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for"

The hit song "You May Be Right" was released from the 1980 album "Glass Houses". The song reached number seven on the Billboard charts in the US.
