Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the woman doing at the beginning of the video "Do You Believe In Love?" by Huey Lewis And The News?

Answer: Sleeping

The very start of the video featured a woman sleeping in bed while lead vocalist Huey Lewis was singing the song. In a later scene, the entire band were in bed with her but she was still asleep. Towards the end of the video she was in the kitchen drinking coffee while the band performed standing around the table. She never noticed them.

This song from the 1983 album "Sports" started out with the line, "I was walkin' down a one way street, just a-hopin', for a chance to meet". The 1978 Electric Light Orchestra song "Sweet Talkin' Woman" included lyrics which were practically identical.
2. Bette Midler asked Mick Jagger to stick around and listen to her performance on one of his songs. She claimed she sang it better than anybody. What Rolling Stones song did Midler sing?

Answer: Beast Of Burden

After Midler exclaimed she could perform the song better than anybody, Mick replied, "Well, almost anybody." The video concept gave the viewer the impression that Midler and Jagger were an item. She was on the stage and he was in the audience but later joined her to finish out the song.

"Beast Of Burden" appeared on the 1978 Rolling Stones album "Some Girls". Bette Midler covered it for her 1983 album "No Frills".
3. The video for the song "Love Kills" featured scenes from the 1988 horror film "A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master". Which of these bands performed the song?

Answer: Vinnie Vincent Invasion

The video was basically footage of the Vinnie Vincent Invasion performing the song "Love Kills" from their 1988 album "All Systems Go". Clips from the movie were spliced in since the song was featured in this movie starring Robert Englund, Tuesday Knight and Lisa Wilcox.

Vinnie Vincent replaced Ace Frehley in Kiss in the early 1980s. When the Vinnie Vincent Invasion broke up, the remaining members formed the band called Slaughter. Tim Kelly was the guitarist.
4. Why did Cyndi Lauper's boyfriend get upset with her in the scene from the cafe in the video "Time After Time"?

Answer: She had a new haircut

Cyndi's boyfriend in the video was sitting at a table and she sat down beside him. When she pulled off her hat he was surprised to see she had lines shaved in the right side of her head. Although the dialogue could not be heard, his facial expressions proved he didn't care for the new hairstyle so an upset Cyndi left the cafe.

"Time After Time" was the second single from Cyndi Lauper's 1983 album called "She's So Unusual". The record peaked at number four on the "Billboard" magazine charts.
5. The video for the song "Shake It Up" by The Cars included a scene with lead vocalist Ric Ocasek at work. What job did Ocasek have?

Answer: Auto mechanic

The video began with Ric Ocasek closing an automotive repair shop. He was dressed in greasy work coveralls and everything. Later scenes had him driving down the road picking up a variety of people and they were sitting in the car shaking objects such as snow globes, dice, paint and even handcuffs. Towards the end of the video the passengers turned into female supermodels.

"Shake It Up" was the title track from their 1981 album. This record also included songs such as "Since You're Gone" and "I'm Not The One".
6. Concert clips and scenes from a psychiatric hospital were icluded in this music video. If you paid close attention, several things were red. Which of the following was not the color red in the Quiet Riot video for "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)"?

Answer: Singer Kevin DuBrow's shoes

Red was a primary color on several objects in this video. However, DuBrow was wearing black Chuck Taylor Converse sneakers. In several of the band's videos, they seemed to be his footwear of choice.

Quiet Riot's album has often been referred to as the first heavy metal album to reach number one on the album charts. Personally, I disagree because this was the third album for the band. They released two albums in Japan, prior to this one, in the late 1970s. "Metal Health" was released in 1983.
7. Which of the following was NOT a scene in Aerosmith's video for the song "Living On The Edge"?

Answer: Teenage girl jumped from a bridge into the river

Actress Alicia Silverstone jumped from a bridge in the Aerosmith video for "Crazy".

"Livin' On The Edge" featured scenes of a teen (Edward Furlong)carrying a gun in his knapsack, driving a stolen a car and discarding the condom his father gave to him. The Catholic girls were rollerblading down the street hitting parked cars with their field hockey sticks in another scene. The female teacher was seen in classroom shots early in the video but it was later revealed she was a male when he changed clothes at home. I guess this all tied in with the song title.

"Livin' On The Edge" appeared on the 1993 album "Get A Grip".
8. Rick Springfield's song called "Jessie's Girl" never mentioned her name but it was written on a wall in the video. What was her name?

Answer: Patty

There was a scene in the video where the words "Jessie and Patty" were painted on the side of a brick wall. To be honest, I can't remember if it said "Jessie Loves Patty" or "Jessie + Patty". But it was one of these. Regardless, her name was Patty.

At the end of this video Jessie, Patty and the dog from the cover of "Working Class Dog" were seen seated in the audience as Springfield finished performing the song on stage. The album was released in 1981. Rick Springfield won a Grammy award for "Jessie's Girl" in the Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.
9. Which of these television and movie actors appeared in the Talking Heads video "Wild, Wild Life"?

Answer: John Goodman

The concept for this video basically had a variety of persons stepping up to a microphone to sing the song karaoke style. At one point, actor John Goodman took a turn. He was dressed in a bright orange suit.

This song came from the 1986 movie "True Stories". The film was directed and co-written by Talking Heads vocalist David Byrne. It was about his visit to a typical Texas town. In the movie, John Goodman played Louis Fyne.
10. Which band member portrayed a dentist in the video for the song "You Might Think" by The Cars?

Answer: Greg Hawkes

Greg Hawkes was the dentist tending to the female patient in this 1984 video. She opened her mouth and singer Ric Ocasek was inside with a green jackhammer. The video was full of bizarre images such as this. Other scenes included Ocasek taking his face off and letting water pour out and the rest of The Cars performing while floating in a bathtub on a bar of soap.

"You Might Think" was the first single from the album "Heartbeat City".

Keyboardist Greg Hawkes and guitarist Elliott Easton joined forces in 2006 with musician Todd Rundgren and formed a band called The New Cars.
