Answer: The Animals

An English rock band, The Animals originated in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1962. Between 1962 and 1984, the band underwent several phases, including multiple changes in members, break-ups, reunions and disputes. In total, the group had ten top twenty hits on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart.

Besides 1964's "The House of the Rising Sun" (which reached number one in the UK and the US), they found chart success with 1965's "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" and 1996's "Don't Bring Me Down".
2. With the mice tended to, Maxwell heads towards the larger rodent section of the zoo, and as he does, his iPod shuffles to a different tune. "Ah," Maxwell says, "M.C. Hamster! I love this guy!" But, which 1990 song did this artist bring to number eight on the US charts?

Answer: U Can't Touch This

"U Can't Touch This" is M.C. Hammer's best-known song, and it reached number eight on the US Billboard Hot 100, and number three on the UK Singles Chart. Taken from the song, the phrase "Hammertime" was the title of a reality television show in 2009 which focused on Hammer and his family. "U Can't Touch This" has been rated as both one of "The Greatest Songs of the 90s" and one of the "100 Worst Songs Ever".
In addition to his recording success, M.C. Hammer made a definite impact in the fashion world with his trademark "Hammer Pants".
3. Maxwell is in the reptile house, when his iPod shuffles to a song that makes him grin. "Lizard Skynyrd! One of my favorite bands - and probably their best song ever!" Which 1974 song is Maxwell listening to?

Answer: Free Bird

Lynyrd Skynyrd originated in 1964 as the Noble Five. In 1970, the name was changed to Leonard Skinner (the name of a gym teacher who was strictly opposed to long hair for boys), and the spelling altered to Lynyrd Skynyrd just prior to their first album's release. In 1977 three of the band members died in a plane crash, and the group disbanded, performing and recording in different forms before reuniting in 1987.
In 2006, after seven nominations, the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
4. Maxwell is busy cleaning the large cat enclosures when his iPod shuffles to a new song. "Def Leopard," he whispers, a new bounce to his step. "I really like this song they did in 1988." But, which song is it?

Answer: Love Bites

From the album "Hysteria", "Love Bites" reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in October of 1988. The album's creation was a lengthy one, due to several reasons, not the least of which was drummer Rick Allen's loss of his left arm in a 1984 car accident.

Besides "Love Bites", the album had five other hit singles, including "Pour Some Sugar on Me" and "Animal". An English rock band, Def Leppard (originally called Atomic Mass) was formed in 1977, and by 2012, the band had sold more than 100 million albums - two of which were diamond certified by RIAA (awarded for sales of over ten million).

They have been nominated numerous times for music awards and won two American Music Awards.

Answer: Pink Floyd

An English progressive rock band, Pink Floyd was founded in 1965 by Roger Waters, Syd Barrett, Nick Mason and Richard Wright - with David Gilmour joining the band in 1967. Despite personal and professional issues, the band created numerous hits, and sold more than 250 million records worldwide. Considered one of the most influential rock bands to date, and one of the most commercially successful, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996, and into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
The 1973 album "The Dark Side of the Moon" became one of the best selling albums ever, and remained on the US Billboard charts for 741 weeks.
And while it is often mistakenly called "The Dark Side of the Moon", the track that contains those lyrics is titled "Brain Damage" or "Brain Damage/Eclipse" (because they are so often played together).
6. Walking the paths between the zoo plantings, Maxwell slows as his iPod changes to a new song. "Love Crows (Where My Rosemary Grows)" is playing, and he tries to remember - which group made the song a hit in 1970?

Answer: Edison Lighthouse

Edison Lighthouse, a UK pop group, came into being in 1970, and had relatively limited commercial success. "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" is their best known song, and it reached number one on the UK Singles Chart and number five on the US Billboard Hot 100. After initial changes in members, the band recorded and performed until 1977. In 2001 the trademark for the name was obtained by Les Fradkin, a musician and record producer.
The group was named after Cornwall's Eddystone Lighthouse.
In the 2001 movie "Shallow Hal", "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" is played during the last scene.
7. Maxwell nearly trips as a small furry rodent scampers past, while his iPod changes to "Go Away Little Squirrel", and he vaguely remembers who brought the song to number one on the US charts in 1971. Which artist accomplished that?

Answer: Donny Osmond

Donny Osmond began performing at the age of five when he joined his brothers (The Osmond Brothers) who performed on a regular basis on "The Andy Williams Show". His career took off in the early 1970s when he also began performing and recording solo. In the late 1970s he began performing with his sister, Marie Osmond, and in the 1990s he found success in musical theater.
Besides 1971's "Go Away Little Girl", 1972's "Puppy Love" and 1973's "The Twelfth of Never" Osmond has had several hits over the years.
Written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, "Go Away Little Girl" has been covered by numerous artists.
8. Maxwell has more cleaning up to do in the zoo's big cat area, and as he heads that way his iPod shuffles to a new song. "Moves Like Jaguar!" he exclaims. "That's Christina Aguilera - but with what band?"

Answer: Maroon 5

Considered a disco-pop song, "Moves Like Jagger" was released in 2011 on Maroon 5's album, "Hands All Over". A music video was also released which featured old footage of Mick Jagger and his distinctive dance moves.
"Moves Like Jagger" made number one on US Billboard Hot 100, as well as topping the charts in 17 other countries, and reached second on the UK Singles Chart.
Maroon 5 is a pop rock band which began in 2002. The band has been nominated for several awards and has won several Grammy Awards.

Answer: Led Zeppelin

An English rock band, formed officially in 1968, Led Zeppelin has been named one of the most innovative, influential, successful and enduring rock bands in history. While 1971's "Stairway to Heaven" (from Led Zeppelin IV) might be the best known and praised of their works, they had multiple commercial and artistic successes, including 1969's "Led Zeppelin II", 1973's "Houses of the Holy" and 1975's "Physical Graffiti".

They released very few singles, preferring their albums to be considered whole entities.

In addition to their recording, they were renowned for their compelling live performances, and performed more than 600 concerts. Led Zeppelin disbanded in 1980, following the death of drummer John Bonham, with the remaining members pursuing solo careers.

In addition to winning many awards, the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
10. Dog tired, Maxwell is nearing the end of his day at the zoo, when the song on his iPod makes him smile. "Gladys Knight & the Pips! In 1973 they had the best song of the year!" But, what was the name of the song Maxwell likes so much?

Answer: Midnight Train to Georgia

Performed by Gladys Knight & the Pips, "Midnight Train to Georgia" was released in August 1973, and reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in October of 1973. The song has been used in both television and movies, and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1992.
Gladys Knight & the Pips recorded and performed from 1953 to 1989, and "Midnight Train to Georgia" was just one of their successful recordings. 1967's "I Heard it Through the Grapevine", 1970's "If I Were Your Woman" and 1974's "Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me" are just a few of the group's other hits.
