Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Let's start with the titular "More Than a Feeling". Which place-name band sang it?

Answer: Boston

Heading off their self-titled debut album, "Boston", "More Than a Feeling" was the first of Boston's four Top Ten hits over their most successful decade, hitting number five on the Billboard Hot 100. Not bad for their first single!
2. Perhaps I can entice you to dance to one of these songs. Which of these artists was NOT "Feelin' Groovy"?

Answer: The Everly Brothers

"The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)" is the full name of this popular S&G song from their popular album "Bridge Over Troubled Water". Among others, this song has been covered by The Seekers, Tori Amos, Harpers Bizarre, The Free Design, and Jim's Big Ego and has been sampled by The Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin.
3. Do subtitles count? If not, this Human League song would just be known as "Fascination". What should the words in parentheses be?

Answer: (Keep Feeling)

The Human League attempted to recapture their success with their last number-one single in the U.K., "Don't You Want Me". Unfortunately, this song only reached number two, and they never had another number-one single in the U.K., though "Human" reached number one in the United States.
4. "Flashdance..." That's a song, isn't it? It feels like it's missing something... What should the rest of the title be?

Answer: What a Feeling

Written for the 1983 film of the same name, "Flashdance... What a Feeling" was Irene Cara's second movie soundtrack hit after her success with 1980's "Fame". "Fame", however, only reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100, while "Flashdance... What a Feeling" topped the chart for six weeks.
5. These songs are quite addictive, aren't they? Are you getting "Hooked on a Feeling"? Who isn't?

Answer: Bad English

While the B. J. Thomas song "Hooked on a Feeling" has been covered by many artists, including Blue Swede, Jonathan King, and even David Hasselhoff, Bad English is not one of them.
6. Dancing to these songs is a good cardio workout. Listen to enough and you'll be "Feelin' Stronger Every Day" with which band?

Answer: Chicago

Off their imaginatively-titled sixth album "Chicago VI", "Feelin' Stronger Every Day" was one of a slew of 1970s Top Ten hits for Chicago, which included "Saturday in the Park", "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?", and "(I've Been) Searchin' So Long".
7. Do you need to cool off for a bit? Relax, this song will give you a "Peaceful Easy Feeling". Who will help you mellow out this time?

Answer: The Eagles

This song was the Eagles' last single from their debut album, "Eagles". Apparently they liked feeling easy because the first single from the same album was titled "Take It Easy".
8. Are these feelings getting the best of you? You're in good company. Which band "Can't Fight This Feeling" either?

Answer: REO Speedwagon

A soulful power ballad, "Can't Fight This Feeling" was REO Speedwagon's second number-one hit single (the first being "Keep on Loving You"). Sadly, the 1984 song would be their last Top Ten hit.
9. You're getting tired of these songs? Are you telling me "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'"? Who did NOT sing this one?

Answer: Harry Nilsson

The Righteous Brothers first sang this song in 1964, and Hall & Oates successfully covered it sixteen years later. Tom Cruise's less-than-stellar version featured prominently in a famous scene in the 1986 film "Top Gun" in which Cruise's character attempts to win over a woman in a bar by singing this song.

While Harry Nilsson moaned about having to eat a "Coconut" "Without You", he did not complain about anyone's lack of love.
10. There's just so many of them...I can't take it anymore! Only Morris Albert can help me now! Which song of his do I need?

Answer: Feelings

According to the Brazilian singer, there is "nothing more than feelings", so evidently Boston misled me in the first question.

Based on a melody written by French musician Loulou Gasté, "Feelings", with its sappy, whiny lyrics and lack of substance, is frequently cited as one of the worst songs of all time.

Quiz-writing can be a difficult venture, more or less, but some of our brave authors opted in to receive a title in May 2012 that tested their focus. In addition to receiving a title with the word 'More' or 'Less' in the name, they were also restricted for category choices; those with a 'More' title had to use one of three categories given with the title and those with a 'Less' title had to use anything but the three categories given.
