Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What do Kiss, Joe Cocker, Uriah Heep, and Tina Turner have in common?

Answer: They all recorded a song written by Bryan Adams

Brian Adams, though also known as an artist, wrote quite a few hit songs for others.
2. 'O Superman' will always be associated with who?

Answer: Laurie Anderson

Though all famous Andersons, it was Laurie Anderson who recorded the very monotone synthesizer song that became her only hit song.
3. Who was not a member of Bananarama?

Answer: Keren Dallin

The other three were members of one of the best-known girl groups of the eighties. Keren Dallin does not exist.
4. What does BAP mean, one of the groups of the 'Deutsche Welle' that became famous in the eighties?

Answer: Father

The 'Deutscher Welle' meant a lot of German groups scoring hit songs all through Western Europe in the early eighties. Some sang in a dialect in which BAP means 'Dad' or 'Father'.
5. Which Gibb was never a part of the Bee Gees?

Answer: Andy

They were all brothers, but the youngest never was a part of the Bee Gees. He became famous by himself.
6. Bob Geldof, quite well known or even notorious because of 'Band Aid', was part of which band?

Answer: Boomtown Rats

All were famous in the eighties, and even though this has nothing to do with the question, INXS, Blondie and The Police have a 'blonde' connection. INXS had a song 'Suicide Blonde', Blondie needs no explanation, and all the members of the Police had blonde hair.
7. Before Michael became famous there was the Jackson Five; but who was never a member?

Answer: Joe Jackson

A whole family destined to make music, but Joe Jackson was not one of them even if he did become quite famous.
8. Bands with repeating words for a name were very 'in' in the eighties- can you name one besides Talk Talk, The The and Mr. Mister?

Answer: Duran Duran

Nobody ever explained to me why this seemed to occur so much in the eighties. If you have a suggestion, please let me know!
9. What is the real last name of Sex Pistols' front man Johnny Rotten?

Answer: Lydon

Johnny Rotten was notorious, but used his real name when forming the band PIL (Public Image Limited).
10. What is the title of the best-known album from Frankie Goes to Hollywood?

Answer: Welcome to the Pleasure Dome

One of the most memorable clips was for the song 'Relax'... quite scandalous in the early eighties.
