Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. According to Rick Springfield, who is loving his good friend "with that body, I just know it"?

Answer: Jessie's Girl

In possibly the funniest karaoke movie scene of all time from 2000's "Keeping the Faith", a salesman named Dong belts out "Jessie's Girl" in a thick accent to Ed Norton and Ben Stiller who play a priest and a rabbi shopping for a karaoke machine and who happen to be in love with the same girl.
2. This Styx song was immortalized in a 1999 VW TV commercial, features Japanese lyrics and ends with the revelation of the main character's true identity: "Kilroy".

Answer: Mr. Roboto

From Styx's over the top concept album "Kilroy Was Here", this song was used in a VW ad showing a guy sitting alone in his Golf making strange hand gestures and facial expressions. Only when his friend opens the passenger door do we find out he's been blasting "Mr. Roboto" and imitating robotic movements while singing along. Brilliant!
3. What 1983 Journey video featured the band playing air guitar (until instruments magically appear), wearing an assortment of classic 80's clothing and a woman inexplicably wandering around an abandoned wharf?

Answer: Separate Ways

This was Journey's first "concept" video in the early days of MTV. It was later named by MTV as one of the 25 lamest videos of all time, which suggests that the concept did not work.
4. Who recorded "The Warrior", which contained such poetic lines as "Shooting at the walls of heartache, bang, bang"?

Answer: Scandal (featuring Patty Smyth)

The band also had a hit with "Goodbye to You". Lead singer Patty Smyth married former tennis great John McEnroe in 1997, and is often confused with punk rocker Patti Smith.
5. This band remade Slade's 1973 hit "Cum on Feel the Noize" on their 1983 album "Metal Health", which made it all the way to number one in the U.S.

Answer: Quiet Riot

The original Slade version of "Cum on Feel the Noize" hit number one in the U.K. in 1973. Capitalizing on this song ten years later, Quiet Riot sold an astounding five million copies of "Metal Health" in the U.S.
6. With inspired use of household objects in the lyrics, Adam Ant asked, "Would you put me up on the bookshelf with the books and the plants?" in the song "Desperate But Not _______".

Answer: Serious

Adam Ant's unique style included an abundance of makeup, pirate outfits and videos featuring highway robbery ("Stand and Deliver" recorded by Adam and the Ants).
7. Which of these songs was Wang Chung's first MTV hit and contained the barely decipherable line "We were so in phase"?

Answer: Dance Hall Days

The band was originally called Huang Chung, which is Chinese for "perfect pitch". There was also a Chinese philosopher named Wang Ch'ung who lived in the first century A.D. and brought a rational approach to Chinese thinking during an age dominated by superstition.
8. Who asked, "How does it feel when you've got no food?" in the song "Pass the Dutchie"?

Answer: Musical Youth

"Pass the Dutchie" was based on the Mighty Diamonds' "Pass the Kouchie" (hint: the song was not about food) and sold four million copies in 1982.
9. In which song did Spandau Ballet sing, "Take your seaside arms and write the next line"?

Answer: True

This song was a critically acclaimed tribute to the Motown sound. The band was originally called The Makers but changed their name after being inspired by some graffiti on a trip to Berlin.
10. Which A Flock of Seagulls song contains the unexpected northern lights reference, "Aurora borealis comes in view, Aurora comes in view"?

Answer: I Ran

In addition to lead singer and former hairdresser Mike Score's trademark "waterfall" haircut, the song's video featured large amounts of aluminum foil in which you can actually see the reflection of the video cameras.
