Diana, Princess of Wales, was killed in a car accident in Paris on 31 August 1997. At her funeral on 6th September Elton John performed "Candle in the Wind 1997".


"Candle in the Wind" was released on 13 September 1997 as a Double-A side with "Something About the Way You Look Tonight". It peaked at number one in the UK Singles Chart.
