Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of Brian May's first electric guitar?

Answer: Red Special

Believe it or not, Red Special was made out the wood from an old fireplace! Brian's parents couldn't afford to buy him an electric guitar, so he made one himself, using a six pence coin as a plectrum. Brian can be still heard using Red Special in many songs. It sounded so much like a synthesiser, albums had to bear the legend that none of the songs used them.
2. What was the name of the first band that Freddie Mercury played in with founder Bruce Murray?

Answer: The Hectics

Freddie often took the place of the lead singer for "Ibex".
"Smile" was a band that was founded by Brian May, Roger Taylor and Tim Staffel.
3. In the summer of 1970, what did Freddie Mercury change his name from?

Answer: Farrokh Bulsara

He was called 'Freddie' at school. He changed his name to 'Mercury', the messenger of the gods. In a way, he was.

7. What was the last song that Freddie recorded before his death?

Answer: Mother Love

Freddie was unable to finish the vocals for the song, so these were done by Brian May. At the end, we hear a baby crying. This is the Phoenix rising from the ashes, like on the Queen logo.
