Answer: Tennessee

Aretha Franklin was born March 25, 1942 in Memphis, TN. Her father moved the family to Detroit where he was the pastor of the New Bethel Baptist Church. Aretha quickly discovered her love for singing in the choir, where she certainly stood out due to her vocal ability.
2. Aretha recorded her very first record at the age of 14. What was the name of this album?

Answer: Songs of Faith

Aretha released this album on the Checker label when she was discovered singing in the choir. Although Checker did not sign her to a contract, the record still remains as Aretha's first professional recording.
3. Aretha Franklin has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades over her career. Her string of ten Grammy awards from 1967 to 1974 is simply amazing. For what song did she win her first Grammy?
