Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Born Annie Mae Bullock in 1939.

Answer: Tina Turner

Turner's chart career stretches back to 1960, when with Ike Turner, she reached number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 in USA with "A Fool In Love".
Surprisingly, some of the tracks associated with her much bigger chart hits in UK than USA, including, "River Deep - Mountain High" (1966) which reached number 88 in USA and number three in UK, "Nutbush City Limits" (1973) which stalled at 22 in USA and was a number four hit in UK and "The Best", a top five hit in UK that only reached number 15 in USA.
2. Along with Ben Watt, made up the band, Everything But The Girl.

Answer: Tracey Thorn

For over a decade, from 1983, Everything But The Girl (EBTG) had minor hit after minor hit in UK, a run only broken up by their cover of "I Don't Want to Talk About It" in 1989, which reached number three.
In 1995 though, the success they so deserved came their way, with three consecutive top ten hits, these being the Todd Terry remix of "Missing" (1995), "Walking Wounded" (1996) and "Wrong" (1996).
Since EBTG went into hiatus in 2000, Thorn has released solo work and written a book, "Bedsit Disco Queen" (2013) as well as devoting her time to raising the children she has with Watt.
3. Drummer in Bon Jovi.

Answer: Tico Torres

Between 1983 and 2019, Torres is one of only three constant members of Bon Jovi, the others being keyboardist David Bryan and Jon Bon Jovi himself.
Apart from appearing on all of the band's albums, he also lent his skills to band mate, Richie Sambora's debut solo album, "Stranger in This Town" (1991), which also included contributions from Eric Clapton and the brilliant Tony Levin.
4. Country artist. First Billboard Country chart number one was "Help Me Hold On" in 1990.

Answer: Travis Tritt

Tritt has had number one singles and top ten albums on the Billboard Country chart as well as winning Grammy awards and CMA (Country Music Association) awards, while also finding time to do a bit of acting in film and TV.
One of his TV appearances was on TV show, " The Haunting of... " in 2015, in which he told of hearing voices in an unknown language at his vacation cabin as well as finding footprints that didn't belong to Tritt or his wife.
Paranormal investigators discovered that an African-American medicine man had been stabbed and beaten to death on the property in 1875, and these were the voices heard, while the medicine man was also present as he had found a kindred spirit in Tritt.
5. Motown star who sang many times with Marvin Gaye. Tragically died in 1970 aged just 24.

Answer: Tammi Terrell

Terrell was blessed with the most amazing voice and one which complimented that of Marvin Gaye perfectly and she appeared with Gaye on tracks such as, "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" (1967), "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing" (1968), "You're All I Need to Get By" (1968) and "The Onion Song" (1969).
She collapsed onstage in 1967 while performing with Gaye, who caught her and helped her off stage, and after being rushed to hospital, she was diagnosed with brain cancer.
Her health went downhill as the tumour worsened and she died in 1970, her death affecting Gaye greatly with many people speculating that Tammi's death was the moment when Gaye began suffering with depression and started using drugs.
6. Folk pop artist. Hit the UK charts in 1988 with "Good Tradition".

Answer: Tanita Tikaram

Tikaram achieved great success with her debut album, "Ancient Heart" (1988) and the singles released from it, but has been struggling ever since to match that success.
Tikaram is English but has quite a mixture of race in her, as her mother is Malaysian and her father as a Fijian-Indian, serving in the British Army was stationed abroad when she was born , meaning she was born in Munster, Germany.
7. Country artist that had a Canadian country chart top five hit in 1972, aged just 13.

Answer: Tanya Tucker

Between 1973 and 1994, Tucker was nominated for ten Grammys without winning one of them. but she did cement her reputation as one of the few female country stars referred to as "outlaw" in the same breath as Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and David Allan Coe, with tracks such as "Texas (When I Die)." (1978) and the live version of ""Somebody Buy This Cowgirl a Beer" from her 1982 album, "Live".
Everyone's favourite outlaw, she also had a mention and appeared in the video for Gretchen Wilson's 2004 hit, "Redneck Woman".
8. Original drummer for disco band, Chic.

Answer: Tony Thompson

Thompson is a drummer of many beats, as not only did he keep time to hits like "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)," (1977) and "Le Freak" (1978) for Chic, but he also formed rock band Power Station with with Robert Palmer, and the former Duran Duran pair of John Taylor and Andy Taylor.
Along with Phil Collins, Thompson was also one of the drummers chosen by Led Zeppelin to replace John Bonham at the Live Aid concert of 1985.
9. English rapper and grime artist. Had a UK number one with, "Written in the Stars" in 2010.

Answer: Tinie Tempah

I am so glad that Tempah has a stage name as I struggle with his real name of Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu.
Amazingly talented and hugely influential on the grime scene, Tempah scored his sixth UK number one in 2015, making him the rap artist with the most UK number ones.
10. Replaced Ace Frehley as Kiss guitarist in 2002.

Answer: Tommy Thayer

Thayer replaced Frehley in 2002 and in 2003, performed with the band and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2003, a concert at which the entire 70 piece orchestra wore Kiss make up.
In 2009, Thayer appeared on the first Kiss studio album in 11 years, "Sonic Boom" which reached number two on the Billboard 200 in USA and on the band's 2012 album, "Monster" he co-wrote 10 songs and sang lead vocals on one track.
