Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The greatest band of all time introduced themselves in what way on their very first album, 'Please, Please Me'?

Answer: Paul counts in, One, Two, Three, Four

Paul repeatedly messed up the intro for 'I Saw Her Standing There,' thus frustrated with himself, he counts the song off and yells out the last count of four.
2. It was very typical back then to have several covers of famous recent hits on albums; the Beatles helped break this mold with what album?

Answer: A Hard Day's Night

In fact, all the songs were written by John and Paul. But they did let George sing on 'I'd Be Happy Just to Dance With You.'
3. This great cover, one of the greatest, up there with Aretha Franklin's 'Respect', had teenie boppers dancing and yelling all over the place with the release of their first album, 'Please, Please Me.'

Answer: Twist and Shout

Doesn't John sound great on that recording? Other notable covers are Barrett Strong's 'Money,' and of course 'Please Mr. Postman,'; both have John as lead singer.
4. What was George's first original on a Beatle album?

Answer: Don't Bother Me

George sings 'Do You Want to Know a Secret,' but he did not write it, that is a Lennon/McCartney composition written for George. 'Don't Bother Me' was on the Beatle's second album, 'With the Beatles.'
5. Which album contained these songs? 'I've Just Seen a Face,' 'I Need You,' and 'Another Girl.'

Answer: Help!

After John wrote such great songs such as 'Help!' and 'You've Got to Hide Your Love Away,' Paul was motivated to come up with his own classics. And so, Paul recorded 'I've Just Seen a Face' and 'Yesterday,' on the exact same day.
6. Which Beatle song was one of the first songs to purposely incorporate feedback within the song?

Answer: I Feel Fine

The feedback is used as the intro to the song, right before George comes crashing in with the guitar riff.
7. What was the Beatle's first single in the UK?

Answer: Love Me Do

Believe it or not, Ringo is not the drummer on 'Love Me Do.' You might think it's Pete Best, but it's not him either. George Martin wanted a more experienced drummer on their first single, and so he used the help of session man Andy White.
8. What's the missing word in this song? "I don't want to sound complaining But you know there's always ____ in my heart"

Answer: rain

Apparently it was George Martin who suggested they speed up the tempo and turn an originally rather dreary song into the "Please Please Me" we now all know and love.
9. What song starts off immediately with the chorus, instead of their traditional verse, bridge, chorus, etc. format?

Answer: She Loves You

It was George Martin who actually suggested this to the Beatles, who originally had the chorus coming after the verse. He thought the chorus was so catchy that it was best to just start the song with it. He proved right, as 'She Loves You' became one of the most successful singles of all time.
10. Which of the following four songs did not appear of the album 'Beatles for Sale?'

Answer: You've Really Got a Hold on Me

'You've Really Got a Hold On Me' was a Smokey Robinson and the Miracles song, which The Beatles did their own version of on 'With The Beatles.'
