Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Correctly finish the opening line to the main title theme, "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough" by Cyndi Lauper: "Here we are, hanging onto strings of ___________________________."

Answer: greens and blues

There are many rumors floating around that Cyndi actually hates this song, and that's why it wasn't included on her Greatest Hits release a few years ago, entitled "Twelve Deadly Cyns...and Then Some."
2. Finish this line from Luther Vandross's contribution to the soundtrack, "She's So Good to Me": "My lady love and I always have a real good time, just the ______ of us."

Answer: three

I know, I know. It really doesn't make a lot of sense, but that's what he says.
3. Which Bangles album was "I Got Nothin" featured on?

Answer: It was never on one of their albums, it was written for the movie

To my knowledge, it was never released on a Bangles album.
4. Which character in the movie listens to "Wherever You're Goin, It's Alright" by REO Speedwagon on the radio?

Answer: Mikey

It's right in the first minute or so of the movie following the credits, after Chunk witnesses the chase. It's playing in the background in Mikey's room while he looks out the window from his bed.
5. Who scored the entire movie, yet only one of his orchestrations, "Theme From 'The Goonies'", appears on the soundtrack?

Answer: Dave Grusin

It's a shame they didn't release the scores on another album; I have most of their MP3's, and they're quite good.
6. Although it sounds a lot like Richard Marx, the person actually responsible for "Saves the Night" is:

Answer: Joseph Williams

The only album I can find of his online is a Japanese import! Talk about underground!
7. The song by the Goon Squad actually appeared in the movie, in the famed deleted octopus scene. Data shoved a radio in the octopus's mouth to get it to leave the crew alone. It happens to be playing their song at the time. What is its very fitting title?

Answer: Eight Arms to Hold You

This is my favorite song on the soundtrack.
8. Which man, famous for being the lead singer of an already smash-hit band in the 70's and 80's, sang "Love is Alive" for the soundtrack?

Answer: Phillip Bailey

Bailey was the lead singer of Earth, Wind and Fire.
9. What teen idol lent her very sultry voice for the very sultry "14K"?

Answer: Teena Marie

One of Marie's best songs. I heard somewhere that Motown wouldn't put her picture on her first album, for fear that listeners would reject her for being white on a predominantly African-American label.
10. Cyndi Lauper's other song on the album, "What a Thrill", was recorded with her band. What was their name?

Answer: Blue Angels

Their biggest hit as a band was "I'm Gonna Be Strong" in 1980.
