Tool Trivia Trivia Quiz

This is just a simple quiz about my favourite band: Tool. I got into this great band when I saw the clip for "Schism" for the first time. This band was also the one band that got me onto heavy music as well.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The hidden track entitled "The Gaping Lotus Experience" didn't appear on original pressings of "Opiate".

Answer: True

It's unknown to me why the band later added this psychedelic track onto the CD. Although, the band probably didn't know about it, as the record company changed the font of the tracklisting on the back of the CD.
2. In the inside sleeve of the "Opiate" CD, there is an assortment of various little things that belong to the band members. A pair of false teeth (!), a glass eye, and personal photographs of when they were much younger. What band member does the dog tag belong to?

Answer: Maynard

It was in fact, Maynard. Maynard was in the army for a while at West-Point Military Academy. If you chose Justin, I pity you. Justin Chancellor wasn't in the band when they recorded Opiate.
3. On the band's first full-length album: "Undertow", Henry Rollins provided guest vocals to the spoken word part of the song "Bottom". Complete the lyrics: "If I let you, you would make me..."

Answer: destroy myself.

"If I let you, you would make me destroy myself. In order to survive you, I must first learn to survive myself..."
4. When the first pressings of the "Undertow" CD were released, there was a certain controversy surrounding the cover artwork. The band compensated for this by releasing the album with a huge barcode as the sleeve, with a note inside containing an apology and the address to write to to get the real sleeve.

Answer: True

Yes this was in fact, true. For those who remember. It is just beyond me why some people thought that it was so controversial.
5. On the inside sleeve for "Ænima" on the import pressing of the CD there is an array of bogus albums that the band supposedly released. Which one of the following was NOT listed there?

Answer: See You Auntie

Yes, the other titles mentioned were in fact "Other albums available by Tool". See You Auntie is a phrase listed in the liner notes. I think you can figure it out for yourself...
6. Translated DIRECTLY from German to English, what does "Die Eier von Satan" mean?

Answer: The Eggs of Satan

The German word for egg is eier. You will find that the song, when translated, is a recipe entitled "The Balls of Satan", ie. Satan's Balls.
7. What is the name of the symbol that is printed on the actual "Ænima" CD?

Answer: The symbol of Astaroth

It is the symbol of a fallen angel named Astaroth. I've had Ænima for a while now and it only just occurred to me recently!
8. In the "Lateralus" booklet, what three letter word is made up of the Lateralus guy's brain matter?

Answer: GOD

I never noticed this until a friend pointed it out to me.
9. The message in "Faaip de Oiad" is a recording of a real phone call to a talk radio station.

Answer: True

This is the recording of someone who rang up a talk-radio station. During his phonecall the power to the station was cut, and they were unable to get the guy who called back again. Quite freaky, when you listen to what the guy in the phone message was saying....
10. Complete the lyric and specify what song it belongs to: "But I'm still right here, giving... "

Answer: blood, keeping faith - from The Patient

"But I'm still right here, giving blood, keeping faith, and I'm still right here..."
