Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which Wilbury song was supposed to be the B-side to George Harrison's "Cloud Nine" single "Got My Mind Set On You"?

Answer: Handle With Care

George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Roy Orbison, all contributed verses to "Handle With Care" which was to be the B-side. The record company rejected it as a B-side because they felt that the song was "too good to throw away," and thus the first steps to "Volume 1" began. "That's What It Takes" and "Zig Zag" took the place as the B-side, depending on what country released the single.
2. Which of the following was NOT an alias of the 5 members of the band?

Answer: Sloppy Wilbury

Sloppy didn't exist, but Tom Petty was Muddy Wilbury in "Volume 3", Roy Orbison was Lefty Wilbury in "volume 1", and George Harrison was Nelson Wilbury in "Volume 1".
3. Roy Orbison sang the lead vocals in only one song out of all the Wilburys albums.

Answer: True

Roy sang the lead vocals on "Volume 1" to the song "Not Alone Anymore". He died of a heart attack a few weeks after the release of "Volume 1".
4. Which two songs make references to guitar maintenance because of the titles?

Answer: "Cool Dry Place" and "Handle With Care"

To keep your guitar in shape you need to handle it with care and store it in a cool dry place so that moisture doesn't get to it.
5. Which music video was a tribute to Roy's death?

Answer: End Of The Line

"End of the Line" takes place on a train. The four surviving Wilburys take turns singing their parts and when Roy's turn comes up (after Tom sings "maybe somewhere when somebody plays Purple Haze") the train enters a tunnel and the lights dim. If you remember the video, next to Tom is a picture frame with Roy's photo in it, possibly from a photo shoot for his "Mystery Girl" album and a rocking chair with his guitar is between Jeff and Bob.
6. The publishing company for the Wilburys was called Big Bargain.

Answer: False

The Wilburys wrote and published their songs under the publisher of Ganga Publishing.
7. Who is the only surviving Wilbury (and still touring) that has incorporated "Handle With Care" into his play list?

Answer: No-one

Tom performed "Handle With Care" at "The Concert For George" along with his band the Heartbreakers, Jeff, and Dhani Harrison in 2002 and has also put the song into his tour playlists. It was also one of two songs that he, Jeff Lynne, and Dhani played for George's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction as a solo artist.
Tom Petty died in 2017.
8. What guitar company created the Traveling Wilburys model guitar that George plays in the music video for "Handle With Care"?

Answer: Gretsch

Gretsch created 3 different model guitars, all differing because of the pickup and electronics set ups.
9. Tom plays the same guitar in the "Inside Out" music video as he does for his video of "Yer So Bad".

Answer: True

Tom is playing a Gibson 6 string acoustic guitar.
10. In the music video for "End Of The Line" what kind of train engine is pulling the car that the Wilburys are in?

Answer: steam engine

Towards the last minute of the song, after the train leaves the tunnel, you catch an outside glimpse of the train passing by and pulling the cars is an old fashioned steam engine.
