quiz
Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the following completes the line from "Say it Ain't So" on the "Blue Album"? "Flip on the 'tele', wrestle with___________!"

Answer: Jimmy

This particular line is written about the band front-man's brother Leaves, who changed his name to fit in, and how he (the front-man, Rivers) tried to take his mind off of the dread he went through when he found his "ex" father's beer in the fridge by watching TV and wrestling with Leaves.
2. In the song "In the Garage" from the "Blue Album", which two KISS members are mentioned?

Answer: Ace Frehley and Peter Criss

He mentions Ace Frehley and Peter Criss since they were his favorite band members from "My favorite rock group KISS", as mentioned in a line in the song. Gene Simmons and Mark St. John, while also members, were not favorites and were left out of the song and Chuck Norris was not in KISS.
(But it would've been awesome if he was)
3. Which album is "Pink Triangle" on?

Answer: Pinkerton

"Pink Triangle" was released on "Pinkerton" in 1996, but never became a hit or was made into a music video. It is based on Rivers' depression caused by a shocking discovery he made about his "relationship" with a girl in college.
4. Which one of the following people has NEVER been a band member in Weezer?

Answer: Buddy Holly

Buddy Holly, who is a dead musician, has never been in Weezer, although, his name was the title of a Weezer song. Jason Cropper (guitar) and Matt Sharp (bass guitar) were founding members of the band circa 1991-1992, and Mikey Welsh (bass guitar) was with the band for its "Green Album" days. Mikey left the band and became an artist, but tragically died in 2011, just days before he was going to attend one of Weezer's concerts in Chicago.
5. Which of the following has had NO affiliation with the band at all? (Ever)

Answer: Gimlee Bilbosa

Gimlee Bilbosa (LOTR Combo) was never affiliated with the band. Bethany recorded "Go Away" on the band's album "Everything Will Be..." Karl Koch is a webmaster and musician who helped the band get its start and is still a vital associate to Weezer. Ric Ocasek produced many of Weezer's albums and is thereby affiliated with the band.
6. Is the following the correct order of albums produced, in chronological order? "Blue", "Pinkerton", "Green", "Maladroit", "Make Believe", "Raditude", and then "Red"?

Answer: no

The "Red Album" and "Raditude" are switched. Weezer has made and continue to make a ton of rocking albums that we all love! Especially the die hard, been with'em from the beginning fans, since their fans are the reason they make their music.
7. Which one of the following is a band that doesn't house any of the members of Weezer as "alumni" or members?

Answer: The Kinks

The Kinks were a popular band from decades before Weezer,
(for all you generation Xs and after) and the other three have all either had or have Weezer members and alumni in them.
8. The first Weezer album, "The Blue Album", was released 20 years prior to the band releasing the album "Everything Will Be Alright In the End."

Answer: True

"Weezer", the self titled "Blue Album" was actually released 20 years before the 2014 album "Everything Will Be Alright In the End." Crazy, huh? They have been together since around 1991-1992.
9. What two "accessories" is Rivers Cuomo best known for wearing?

Answer: Lightning strap and wide frame glasses

Rivers Cuomo has always been sporting the lightning strap and famous glasses. In an interview in 2010, someone asked if he ever gets hounded in public for being so famous, and he responded stating that he doesn't usually wear his glasses when he's out in public and people for some reason never recognize him without them. Cool, huh?
10. Which song is this line from? "I'll take you out for dinner at Palermo's, we'll split a cheese fondue"

Answer: I'm Your Daddy

The line is from "I'm Your Daddy" off of the "Raditude Album" and sounds kinda creepy; don't worry, the whole song's lyrical content is kind of creepy. The lyrics were created when Rivers was messing around at home and decided he wanted to write things he's seen in the past few days and combine them. The song was released as one of the album's singles.
11. Rivers Cuomo, the band's front-man and lead guitarist, was at one point considered for the spot of the band's drummer when the band first formed.

Answer: True

Rivers played the drums slightly before he started on guitar. In high school, he would be drumming and rocking out to 80s metal bands like Judas Priest, Quiet Riot, and Slayer. In the song "Back to the Shack", he actually mentions in a line, "Maybe I should play the lead guitar and Pat(the drummer) should play the drums", leaving room for inquiry for what may have very well been the band's possible reality where Pat or Brian would've done lead guitar and vocals, and our beloved Rivers would've been "Ringo-ing" in the background.
12. During a break in one of the band's tours, Rivers Cuomo got surgery to extend the length of one of his legs.

Answer: True

=w=eird, huh? This is actually true. Rivers got surgery to extend one of his legs which was two inches shorter than his other. This pain he went through may have inspired some of the dark songs on "Pinkerton." Also, Rivers played soccer when he was little and was apparently pretty good. I wonder how that worked?
13. Which of the following was a possible name for "WEEZER- The Red Album"?

Answer: Weezer United

Yes, "Weezer United" was a name recommended by Pat Wilson and Brian Bell, but it was decided by the producers that the album would go under the band's name like two of their previous albums.("green" and the "blue")The possibility for this name was discovered in an interview in late 2007 with rhythm guitarist Brian Bell, where multiple sources were asking questions about the album's possible names.

He told them that "Weezer United", among other names, was a serious possibility and that the cover "may have some correlation to the covers of the self-titled albums. Who knows? We might even make it our rainbow album", as stated by Bell.
14. Which of the following is NOT a line from any Weezer song?

Answer: Jump off a bridge with Daddy

Yeah, these are some of the lyrics that really stick out in Weezer songs. The "jump off a bridge with Daddy" was never in a song but it sure could've been in say, a rough version of "Say it Ain't So". The "I'm dumb, she's a lesbian" is in the song "Pink Triangle", "stupid singing shows" is in "Back to the Shack", and "I'm not a happy meal" (Probably the funniest sarcastic line ever) is in the song "I've Had it Up to Here."
15. In the song "Back to the Shack", what brand and model guitar is mentioned in the lyrics?

Answer: Fender Stratosphere

"Back to the strat with the lightning strap." The other answers besides the Rogue are not real models. The line is referring to the classic guitar Rivers played for their early years as a band, and using it as a metaphor to get the point across that they need to go back to their original writing, with a little bit of their original "Blue Album" sound.
