"Giddyup Go" is s my favorite trucking song. It was featured on Red's album of the same name, released in November, 1965. The song reached number one on January 8, 1966, on the Billboard Hot 100 Country chart and remained there for six weeks. The tune stayed on the Chart for another 16 weeks.

'Waitin' in your Welfare Line" was a huge hit for Buck and his Buckaroo's. It was his tenth single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Buck had another ten number one hits on that chart before he retired in the 1980's.

Eddy Arnold was known as the "Tennessee Ploughboy".
Eddy posted 147 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Only George Jones had more.
Eddy sold more than 85 million records over his sixty-one year career.

Jim Reeves died in a small plane crash in July of 1964. "Distant Drums" was his third posthumous chart topper on the on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. He would chart at number one twice more on that chart posthumously.

"Take Good Care of Her" was written by Arthur Kent and Ed Warren and recorded in 1961 by Adam Wade.
Sonny covered it and took it to number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in June of 1966.

"Almost Persuaded" was written by Glenn Sutton and Billy Sherrill.
David recorded it first, taking the tune to number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. There have been many covers, including versions by Sherri King, Maury Finny, Merle Haggard, Patti Page and Etta James.

Written by Leon Payne, "Blue Side of Lonesome" was Jim's fourth posthumous number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. The tune only held the top spot for one week, but hung around on that chart for another 18 weeks.
Jim starred in a film, "Kimberly Jim" (1963) in which he plays a gambler trying his luck in the Kimberly, South Africa, diamond region. It's worth a look!

Bill worked as a sportswriter and radio DJ before turning to singing professionally in 1958. He's appeared in a number of films, and had his own TV variety show for one season in 1966.
