Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The case of Bible John was an unsolved murder case of three women in Scotland. In which Scottish city did these crimes occur?

Answer: Glasgow

Scotland is one of several countries who've accepted their dark pasts. They've been home to and had several infamous killers such as Ian Brady (the dominant half of the Moors Murderers), Peter Manuel, and Archibald Hall.
2. The first body that was found was discovered on February 23, 1968. Which victim of Bible John was discovered on this date?

Answer: Patricia Docker

Patricia was a busy wife, mother of a toddler, and a nurse. Her husband was part of the Royal Air Force, and she just needed a break to go out for a while. After she (and most of the other victims) died, the media portrayed them as "teases", and said that they "were going out for some 'fun' with men other than their husbands".

This is probably highly untrue, as Patricia, Jemima, and Helen were all heavily stressed and needed a break from their busy lives.
3. All of the victims of Bible John were going to spend the night out with their girlfriends. Which dance hall did they all visit before their unfortunate demise?

Answer: The Barrowland Ballroom

Although Patricia Docker did visit The Majestic prior to going to the Barrowland, none of the other victims did. The Barrowland is the only thing that is left standing from these crimes, and according to their website, they consider themselves to be "Glasgow's Premier Rock and Pop Venue".
4. All of the victims were strangled with an item that they had with them that night. Which item did they have which was used by Bible John to kill them with?

Answer: Pantyhose

They were all strangled with their pantyhose, although it would be just as easy to strangle them with their scarves, as they all had one with them.
5. Helen was warned by her husband to be careful before she left. She let her guard down because she would be out with her sister, Jean. Helen, Jean, and Bible John all left the Barrowland Ballroom together using what form of transportation?

Answer: They all shared a taxi, dropping Jean at home first.

After she was found dead it was her husband that offered a 100 pound reward for anyone who had information about his wife's killer.
6. Most serial killers are referred to as something by the media, and this is what they are more commonly known as later in their career (like when they're in prison). Famous examples of this are the Green River Killer, the Stocking Strangler, and the Happyface Killer. Since this case is still marked by Scotland Yard as "unsolved", he is referred to as Bible John. Which of the following events led the media to pick up on his nickname?

Answer: Jean Puttock (sister of victim three) remembered that he constantly quoted scripture.

When Jean was leaving with her sister Helen, the three of them (Helen, Bible John, and Jean) all shared a cab. Once it was discovered that Helen was the third victim of Bible John, she reported in an interview to the press that the man who called himself John constantly quoted scripture. Thus, Bible John.
7. Jemima MacDonald was discovered by the neighborhood kids in the morning. Jemima's sister, Margaret, overheard them talking about a "lady outside" and asked them to show her where she was. When she arrived, she was shocked to realize that the "lady outside" was actually her sister Jemima. What was the date that Margaret will never forget - the day that she found her dead sister?

Answer: August 17, 1969

All of the victims are found fairly close to home, which makes sense as to why Margaret was able to find her sister. All of the victims were also found the day after they were killed, so Jemima was killed on the 16.
8. Some serial killers take items of the victims, which are sometimes referred to as "souvenirs", because much like the souvenir that someone might get after going on a trip, these "souvenirs" allow the killer to relive the event. Bible John took something from all of the victims - what was it?

Answer: Purse

For some unknown reason, Bible John always took their purse. However, there is some speculation as to if the purse was actually taken by Bible John (seeing as he didn't take anything else), or that someone had stolen the purse from the dead body; both are probable.
9. Bible John was described by many different people who saw him leave with each of his victims. Which features described by the eyewitnesses portray him?

Answer: 25-30 years old, about 6' tall, reddish short hair.

When the police asked a witness what color hair the man he suspected Bible John to be had, he saw a stray dog running across the street. He commented to the officer that the dog had the exact hair color of the man who he saw. Needless to say, the police began chasing the dog. Once they caught it, they proceeded to cut some of its hair for the use of the police portrait.
10. Probably the strangest occurrence of the Bible John killings. Either this was planned by him, or he had a strange run of coincidences. All of the victims were left near their homes, all spent the night at the same ballroom, all had their handbags taken, all were strangled with their pantyhose, and all had one other thing in common. What was it?

Answer: All were menstruating.

Oddly enough, this was the first thing discovered by the police once they went to the scene. Any other previously suspected victims were checked and ruled out as victims of Bible John if they were not menstruating.
