Mary Tyler Moore (1936-2017) was an American actress of stage, film and television. She appeared in television commercials and worked as a model before getting her first regular television role. This role was as a mysterious telephone receptionist in the television series "Richard Diamond, Private Detective" (1957-1960) starring David Jansen.
In the series the viewer only heard her voice, however, her legs appeared on camera adding to the receptionist's mystique. She also made appearances on a number of television series including "Surfside 6", "77 Sunset Strip", "Wanted: Dead or Alive" and "Hawaiian Eye". Mary Tyler Moore is best remembered for her roles in "The Dick Van Dyke Show" (1961-1966) and her own show "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (1970-1977).
