2. The 34th chapter of Genesis tells of Shechem, the son of Hamor, defiling the daughter of Jacob, resulting in the girl's brothers going on a rampage and killing every male in the city where Shechem lived. What was the name of the girl?

Answer: Dinah

Dinah is the correct answer. After she was defiled, a bloody massacre took place with Dinah's brothers killing every male in Shechem's hometown and every woman and child taken captive and every house plundered. The massacre took place after Dinah's brothers convinced the males in Shechem's city they should circumcise themselves. Genesis 34:25, in the NIV Bible, states: "Three days later, while all of them were still in pain, two of Jacob's sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, took their swords and attacked the unsuspecting city, killing every male."

3. Solomon, of course, ended up replacing his father David as king of Israel. However, another brother of Solomon had for a while claimed to be the king. What's the brother's name? (1 Kings 1:5)

Answer: Adonijah

While David was advanced in years, Adonijah set himself up as king. Bathsheba, David's most famous wife and mother of Solomon, however, thwarted Adonijah's plans and Solomon became king, as per David's plans. In 1 Kings 2: 25, Solomon instructs Benaiah to kill Adonijah, and so ends the story of a would-be king.

4. According to Genesis 25:9, two brothers buried Abraham after he died when he was 175 years old. What are the names of the two brothers?

Answer: Isaac and Ishmael

Genesis 25:9-11, states Isaac and Ishmael buried Abraham "in the cave of Machpelah near Mamre, in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite." The field had been bought by Abraham from the Hittites and he was buried with his wife Sarah.

5. According to Matthew 13:55, Jesus had four brothers -- James, Joseph, Simon and Judas. How many sisters did he have?

Answer: The exact number is not known

The exact number of sisters is unknown. Matthew 13:54-55, in the NIV Bible states in part: "Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?" It's apparent Jesus had four brothers and more than one sister, but nowhere in Scripture does it state how many sisters.

6. Moses and Aaron were a dynamic duo in the Old Testament, without equal. What was the name of their sister?

Answer: Miriam

Miriam is listed as prophetess in Exodus 15:20 and was quite the musician. According to Scripture, after the Egyptian army perished in the Red Sea, Miriam took a tambourine in her hand and started singing, and all the women followed her with tambourines and dancing. In Numbers 12 she and Aaron opposed Moses and she was struck with leprosy.

7. 1 Samuel 17:12 states David was one of eight boys in his family. According to verse 13, who was the oldest?

Answer: Eliab

David's oldest brother was Eliab. However, it appears Eliab had little appreciation for David. The 17th chapter of 1 Samuel contains the account of David battling and defeating Goliath. Verse 28 tells of Eliab burning with anger. Just prior to David's spectacular victory, Eliab, in the NIV Bible, states: "Why have you come down here? And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the desert? I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle."

8. Job, of course, is one of the best known characters in the Old Testament. Scripture says he had seven sons. According to Job 1:4, how many sisters did the brothers have?

Answer: Three

The correct answer is three. In addition to having a total of ten children, Scripture states Job owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen and 500 donkeys, and "a large number" of servants, making him "the greatest man among all the people of the East." Scripture also makes it clear his sons loved to entertain. Job 1:4, in the NIV Bible, states: "His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them."

9. Rahab the prostitute is a well-known character in the book of Joshua. Because of her kindness to two Israeli spies, it was agreed to spare her father, mother and her brothers and sisters when Joshua's army attacked Jericho. How many brothers and sisters were spared?

The exact number is not given, but her parents as well as brothers and sisters were saved due to the kindness displayed by Rahab. Joshua 6:23, in the NIV Bible states: "So the young men who had done the spying went in and brought out Rahab, her father and mother and brothers and all who belonged to her.

They brought out her entire family and put them in a place outside the camp of Israel." While sisters are not mentioned in this passage, they are mentioned in Joshua 2:13, in which Rahab requests the two spies to spare her father and mother, her brothers and sisters "and all who belong to them." In verse 14, the spies accept her offer.

10. 1 Kings 11:18-20 tells of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, being so impressed with a man from Edom who had gone to Egypt to live that he gave him a sister of his own wife, Queen Tahpenes, in marriage. The man had moved to Egypt as a boy after David scored a decisive military victory over the Edomites. What's the man's name?

Answer: Hadad
