Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Find the match for the brother of Aaron.

Answer: Moses

Moses was the younger brother of Aaron. The two brothers, along with their sister Miriam, were responsible for leading the Israelites out of Egypt on a forty-year-long journey to Canaan, known as the Promised Land. According to Exodus 7:7, Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they first sought permission from the Pharaoh to leave Egypt. No age is given for Miriam in Scripture.
2. Find the match for the brother of Cain.

Answer: Seth

Seth is the correct answer. Cain, Abel and Seth were the three named sons of Adam and Eve. According to Scripture, Seth was born after Cain killed Abel in a severe fit of jealousy. Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters, but they are not named, as per Genesis 5:4.
3. Find the match for the half brother of Isaac.

Answer: Ishmael

Isaac and Ishmael were both the sons of Abraham, although they had different mothers. Sarah was the mother of Isaac while Hagar, Sarah's handmaiden, gave birth to Ishmael.

Sarah and Hagar despised each other and Abraham ended up forcing Hagar and her son Ishmael to leave his house. Scripture goes on to tell of Ishmael becoming the father of the Arab nation while Isaac became one of three patriarchs of the Israelite nation.
4. Find the match for the brother of Esau.

Answer: Jacob

Jacob and Esau were the first set of documented twins in the Bible. They were the sons of Isaac and Rebekah. Scripture states Isaac favored Esau while Rebekah favored Jacob and this would result in some serious problems. Genesis 27 tells of Rebekah working behind the scenes to ensure Jacob would receive the blessing Isaac had intended to give to Esau.
5. Find the match for the brother of Benjamin.

Answer: Joseph

Joseph and Benjamin were both sons of Jacob and Rachel, with Joseph being the oldest. According to Genesis 35:18, Rachel died giving birth to Benjamin. A substantial portion of the Book of Genesis tells of Joseph being betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery and then ending up being thrown in prison on false claims of attempted rape.

However, he would ascend to become the second most powerful man in Egypt.
6. Find the match for the brother of Nahor.

Answer: Abraham

Abraham and Nahor were both sons of Terah, as per Genesis 11:26. Scripture goes on to tell of Abraham, who was known as Abram at the time, marrying Sarai, who would become known as Sarah. Meanwhile, Nahor wold marry Milcah. Terah also had a third son, Haran.

Abraham would become one of three patriarchs of the Israelite nation. The other patriarchs were his son Isaac and his grandson Jacob.
7. Find the match for the brother of Eliab.

Answer: David

Eliab, the son of Jesse, had a number of brothers, including David, the shepherd boy who slew Goliath and became king of Israel. According to 2 Chronicles 2:13-14 Jesse was the father of seven boys -- Eliab, Abinadab, Shimea, Nethanel, Raddai, Ozem and David . He was also the father of two girls, Zeruiah and Abigail.

Although Eliab and David were brothers, Scripture indicates Eliab had little use for him. See 1 Samuel 17:28, for details.
8. Find the match for the half brother of Solomon.

Answer: Adonijah

Adonijah and Solomon were half brothers, the sons of David. Adonijah's mother was Haggith, while Solomon's mother was Bathsheba. Interestingly, Adonijah attempted to become king of Israel when David was frail and elderly and before Solomon was officially crowned. However, Scripture tells of Bathsheba and Nathan the prophet taking steps behind the scenes to ensure Solomon would become king.

Later Solomon would end up ordering the execution of his half brother Adonijah, as per 2 King 2:13-25.
9. Find the match for the brother of Andrew.

Answer: Peter

Peter and Andrew were brothers as well as members of the original Twelve Disciples. Their father was Jonah, but the name of their mother is not known. Going strictly by Scripture, Peter was brash and extroverted while Andrew was quiet and introverted.

It is known Peter was married, as Matthew 8:14-15 tells of Jesus healing his mother-in-law who had been in bed with a fever. No details are given about the marital status of Andrew, or any of the other disciples.
10. Find the match for the brother of James.

Answer: John

John was the brother of James. The two men were fishermen and were members of the original Twelve Disciples. According to Matthew 4:21, they were the sons of Zebedee. It is believed their mother was Salome.

John is credited by some with being the author of the Gospel of John, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John and Revelation. James was the first of the original Twelve Disciples to be executed, as per Acts 12:2.
