Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You don't have to read far before you come across a name in the Bible that is formed entirely on the left side of your keyboard. It's none other than the name of the world's first woman. What was her name?

Answer: Eve

Eve, of course, is the correct answer. According to Genesis 3:20, the world's first woman was named Eve by her husband Adam because "she would become the mother of all the living." Scripture goes on to tell of Adam and Eve becoming the parents of Cain, Abel and Seth and an unstated number of other sons and daughters who are not named.
2. Tamar was married at different times to two sons of Judah, one of the founders of the twelve tribes of Israel. The first son she was married to had a name formed entirely on the left side of the key board. What was his name?

Answer: Er

Out of the four options, Er is the only one formed on the left side of your computer keyboard. Scripture states he was struck dead in a case of divine retribution and Tamar ended up becoming the wife of Er's younger brother, Onan. However, Onan, was also struck dead by God.

Scripture goes on to tell of Judah fathering twin boys with Tamar. The boys were Perez and Zerah.

(See Genesis 38:1-30 for details.)
3. Zabad is a name formed on the left side of the keyboard. Using the NKJV, there are seven different men in the Old Testament named Zabad.

Answer: True

True. Seven different men in the Old Testament were called Zabad, a name formed on the left side of the keyboard.

The seven men, according to Wikipedia, are:

1.) A member of the tribe of Judah who was the son of Nathan and the father of Ephlal, as per 1 Chronicles 2:36-37.
2.) A man from Ephraim who was the son of Tanath and the father of Suthelah, as per 1 Chronicles 7:21.
3.) The son of Ahlai who was one of King David's Mighty Men, as per 1 Chronicles 11:41.
4.) The son of Shimeath who assassinated King Joash in his bed after he had been severely wounded, as per 2 Chronicles 24:23-26.
5. 6. 7.) Three different men who had married foreign wives, as per Ezra 10:27,33,34.
4. Out of the four names below, which one with a name spelled on the left side of your keyboard, was a king of Judah?

Answer: Asa

Asa, a name formed on the left side of the keyboard, was regarded as a good king in the eyes of the LORD. He replaced his father Abijah as king and reigned for forty-one years in Jerusalem. His successor was his son Jehoshaphat.

1 Kings 15:9-24 tells of Asa removing idols his fathers had made. He even removed Maachah, his grandmother, from being queen mother, because she had made "an obscene image of Asherah."
5. Zeeb is a name also formed on the left side of the keyboard. According to Judges 7:25, who was Zeeb?

Answer: One of two Midianite princes killed by Gideon

Zeeb was a Midiante prince who was slayed by Gideon, a noted judge of Israel, during a military battle. Scripture states Zeeb was killed along with another Midiante prince, Oreb. Judges 7:25 states Zeeb was killed by his winepress while Oreb was killed at the rock of Oreb.

According to Judges 7, Gideon led three hundred soldiers into battle against
thousdands and thousands of Midianite soldiers and scored a spectacular victory, just as God had told Gideon.
6. Out of the four names below that are all formed on the left side of the keyboard, which one was a king of the Amalekites whose life was spared by King Saul? (1 Samuel 15:10-34)

Answer: Agag

Agag, was the king of the Amalekites, and his life was spared by King Saul after the Israelites scored a decisive military victory. 1 Samuel 15:10-34 tells of Saul allowing the Israelites to take plunder from the Amalekites even though he had received express orders from God to "utterly destroy" the enemy and not take any plunder.

The passage goes on to tell of Samuel condemning Saul's actions and proclaiming "because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king." Scripture states later Samuel "hacked Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal."

Shortly after this incident, Saul would commit suicide on the battlefield, with David eventually becoming king of Israel.
7. Out of the four names below that are all formed on the left side of the keyboard, which one was the father of Shammah, one of David's Mighty Men, as per 2 Samuel 23:11?

Answer: Agee

Agee is the correct answer. 2 Samuel 23:11 states Shammah was the son of Agee and one of David's Mighty Men. However, little is known about Agee apart from the fact he was a Hararite and his son was an elite soldier with David.

2 Samuel 23:11-12 tells of Shammah standing in the middle of a field and killing a large number of Philistine soldiers. Details are not given about the exact number of soldiers Shammah killed. Scripture states Shammah's victory was divinely inspired.
8. Out of the four names below that are all formed on the left side of the keyboard, which one was the writer of a book in the Old Testament?

Answer: Ezra

Ezra is the writer of the Old Testament book that bears his name. The book consists of ten chapters and, similar to the book of Nehemiah, it tells of Israelites returning from captivity to re-build Jerusalem.

In the Hebrew Bible, Ezra and Nehemiah appear together as one book.
9. Out of the four names below that are all formed on the left side of the keyboard, which one was a son of Jacob and Zilpah?

Answer: Gad

Gad was the son of Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's handaiden. Jacob and Zilpah were also the parents of another son -- Asher. In his final words to his twelve sons, Jacob had this to say about Gad in Genesis 49:19 in the NKJV: "Gad a troop shall tramp upon him, but he shall triumph at last."

According to Genesis 30:11, when Zilpah was giving birth to Gad, she exclaimed: "A troop comes!" So she called his name Gad. According to the Website, Hebrewname.org, Gad means 'luck', 'happiness', 'success'.
10. Scripture tells of Paul being ordered to appear before a Roman emperor to plead his case after he had appeared before two Roman governors, Felix and Festus. What was the title of the emperor, which can be formed on the left side of the keyboard, before whom Paul was ordered to appear, as per Acts 25:12 in the KJV, NKJV and the NIV?

Answer: Caesar

Caesar is the only name out of the four options that can be spelled on the left side of your keyboard. Acts 25:12 tells of Festus, the Roman governor, agreeing to Paul's request to appeal his case before Caesar. Paul had been imprisoned and put on trial for preaching the Gospel message. While Acts gives plenty of details about Paul's trip to Rome -- he was involved in a shipwreck among other things -- no details are given about his eventual appearance before Caesar.

It's interesting to note, however, in Philippians 4:22, Paul writes to the Philippians, "All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar's household." Going by this verse, he had apparently made friends with those in Caesar's household before his case to be heard.
