Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. John records seven miracles that Jesus performed. The first was at a marriage feast. The hosts had run out of something that Jesus provided. What was it?

Answer: Wine

Jesus turned water into wine. You find this story in John 2:1-11. The wine He provided was much better than what had been served already.
2. Jesus did this miracle even though the recipient of the miracle was a good distance away. What was the miracle described in Chapter 4?

Answer: Healed a nobleman's son

John 4:46-54. Jesus wouldn't go with the man to his house, but told him his son was healed. The nobleman went his way and discovered that the son had recovered at the same hour as the conversation with Jesus took place.
3. The third miracle recorded by John involved a man who had been sick and unable to walk for thirty-eight years. Jesus healed him, and he immediately was able to walk. The man had waited by a pool of water noted for healing. What was the name of this pool?

Answer: Bethesda

You'll find this story in John 5:1-9. Legend said that an angel would periodically trouble a pool of water and the first to step in the pool after the troubling would be healed. This man (John referred to him as "the impotent man" - verse 7) was never able to be the first one in because someone always stepped in front of him. Jesus healed him, and he immediately was able to walk.
4. Jesus fed a large crowd with only a little food on more than one occasion. The miracle that John records says that five thousand were fed with only five loaves and two fishes. How many baskets of leftovers were gathered?

Answer: 12

John 6:1-14. Interestingly, John records that there were 5,000 men. There may well have been women and children, too.
5. After the feeding of the 5,000, Jesus performed another miracle that defied natural law. What was it?

Answer: Walked on water

John 6:15-21. The ship carrying his friends was about twenty-five or thirty-five furlongs (three or three and a half miles) from shore when a storm arose. Jesus walked on the water to the ship, and when He entered the ship, the ship was immediately at its destination on land.
6. The ninth chapter of John tells of Jesus healing a man of a disability present from birth. What was the disability?

Answer: Blind

John 9:1-11. Jesus made a clay of dirt and spittle and instructed the man to go to Siloam's pool the complete the cleansing. Jesus told his disciples that the man was blind, not because of sin of either he or his parents, but so that Jesus could heal him.
7. Jesus raised his friend Lazarus from the dead. How long had Lazarus been in the tomb?

Answer: 4 days

John 11:1-44. Lazarus's sister Martha told Jesus that Lazarus wouldn't have died if Jesus had not delayed in coming.
8. Before Jesus was betrayed, He washed his disciples' feet. One disciple wanted to refuse this service from Jesus, but Jesus insisted. Who did not want Jesus to wash his feet?

Answer: Peter

You'll find this account in John 13:1-9. When Jesus told Peter that he had to have his feet washed to be a part of Him, Peter then wanted Jesus to wash his hands and head, too.
9. After Christ was arrested, He received two Jewish trials. Who were the two who tried Him?

Answer: Annas and Caiaphas

John 18:13,24. After both of those trials, Jesus was turned over to the Romans.
10. Did John record all the miracles of Jesus?

Answer: No

John 20:30-31 "And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name."
