Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Find the match for the number of people who died when the tower of Siloam fell on them, as per Luke 13:4.

Answer: 18

In the 13th chapter of Luke, Jesus makes passing reference to the tower of Siloam toppling, killing eighteeen people. He made the remark after telling the people about the need to repent or perish. Here's how Luke 13:3-5 reads in the NKJV: "...unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish."

Today, it is not known exactly what the tower of Siloam was or where it stood. However, it is generally believed it was in the southeastern section of Old Jerusalem and was a well-known landmark in the days of Jesus. Some scholars believe the tower was connected with the pool of Siloam.
2. Find the match for the number of disciples who came from Bethsaida, as per John 1:44.

Answer: 3

Going by Scripture, three of the original Twelve Disciples came from Bethsaida, a fishing community on the Sea of Galilee. John 1:44 states Peter, Andrew and Philip were all from Bethsaida. Peter and Andrew were brothers, the son of Jonah.

John 1:45-51 states Philip recruited Nathanael to become a disciple leading some to believe Nathanael was also from Bethsaida, but there is no documentation about where he resided. It is also believed by some scholars James and John came from Bethdaida, but again there is no documentation.
3. Find the match for the number of times the word 'love' appears in the New Testament using the NKJV.

Answer: 237

Using the NKJV Bible, the word 'love' appears two hundred and thirty-seven times. When it comes to using the word 'love', the Gospel of John is at the top of the list with thirty-nine occurrences followed by Romans with sixteen occurrences and the Gospel of Matthew with eleven. I find it highly interesting Acts is the only book in the New Testament that does not contain the word 'love' when the NKJV is used.

For the record, the word 'love' appears two hundred and two times in the KJV and two hundred and sixty-one times in the NIV.
4. Find the match for the number of jars of water Jesus turned into wine, as per John 2:6?

Answer: 6

John 2:1-10 tells of Jesus taking six waterpots of stone and after having them filled with water, He miraculously turned the contents into wine. Each jar contained twenty to thirty gallons of water, according to the passage.

The miracle took place at a wedding feast in Cana. No names are given for the newlyweds. The turning of water into wine was the first miracle performed by Christ.
5. Find the match for the number of angels who appeared to the disciples when Jesus ascended to heaven, as per Acts 1:9-11.

Answer: 2

Two is the correct answer. The account of Jesus ascending to heaven in Acts 1:9-11 tells of two men in white apparel appearing and then stating, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven." No further details are given.

According to Luke 24:50-53, the ascension took place in Bethany, a village just outside Jerusalem in Biblical times. Witnessing the ascension were the eleven remaining members of the original Twelve Disciples.
6. Find the match for the number of books in the KJV New Testament that consist of only one chapter.

Answer: 4

Using Bible versions such as the KJV, NKJV and NIV, there are four books in the New Testament that consist of only one chapter. The books are Philemon, Second John, Third John and Jude.

Paul was the writer of Philemon while John, one of the original Twelve Disciples, was the writer of Second John and Third John. Meanwhile, Jude was written by a man called Jude, but there is debate about exactly who he was. Protestants tend to believe Jude was the half brother of Jesus while Catholics believe Jesus did not have any half brothers.
7. Find the match for the number of books in the New Testament with titles starting with a number. (ie 1 Corinthians, 1 Timothy)

Answer: 11

Eleven different books in the New Testament have titles that start with numbers. The books are 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, 1 John, 2 John and 3 John. In other words, there are twenty-seven books in the New Testament, using the NKJV, and eleven of them have a number in front of the title.
8. Find the match for the number of wise virgins who waited for the bridegroom in Matthew 25:1-13.

Answer: 5

Scripture tells of ten virgins in total waiting for the bridegroom, but only five of them were wise. The other five were foolish. In the parable told by Jesus in Matthew 25:1-13, the five wise virgins took extra oil for their lamps while waiting for the bridegroom. However, the five foolish virgins did not take extra oil, and their lamps burned out.

The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins and appears in only the Gospel of Matthew and nowhere else in the Bible.
9. Find the match for the number of books in the KJV New Testament that consist of two chapters.

Answer: 0

Out of twenty-seven different books in the New Testament, none of them have only two chapters. Four different books have one chapter and three different books have three chapters.

Using Bible versions such as the KJV, NKJV and the NIV there is only one book in the entire Protestant Bible that has two chapters. The book is Haggai, part of the Old Testament.
10. Find the match for the number of Beatitudes as recorded in Matthew 5:3-10.

Answer: 8

Matthew 5:3-10 contains eight Beatitudes given by Jesus during His Sermon on the Mount. The eight groups being blessed are:
1.) The poor in spirit;
2.) those who mourn;
3.) the meek;
4.) those who hunger and thirst for righteousness;
5.) the merciful;
6,) the pure in heart;
7.) the peacemakers;
8.) and those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake.

It must be pointed out four Beatitudes are listed in Luke 6:20-23. The passage states the blessed are:
1.) The poor;
2.) those who hunger;
3.) those who weep;
4.) and those "when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake."

It is believed the four Beatitudes in Luke were given by Jesus at a different location than the Sermon on the Mount.
