Petra Kvitova dominated in her first two rounds as she lost just a combined three games in the two matches. Kvitova is a tall, left-handed player and she was the first person of either gender born in the 1990s to win a Grand Slam event in tennis. Jankovic lost in her next match to Agnieszka Radwańska which was the fifth time she'd lost at Wimbledon in the fourth round.

Ostapenko dominated the match against Carla Suarez Navarro as she won in straight sets 6-2, 6-0. In the second round Ostapenko lost to Kristina Mladenovic in straight sets. Other than Ostapenko, no other wild card won a match at the 2015 Wimbledon.

Kosice is the second largest city in Slovakia after the capital Bratislava. After her victory in the first round Cepelova lost in straight sets in round two to Monica Niculescu. Simona Halep's loss in round one was surprising as she had made the semi-finals at Wimbledon in 2014.

Unfortunately for Venus Williams, she was seeded 16 meaning that she was in the same bracket as her sister, Serena Williams. She lost to Serena in the fourth round, 6-4 6-3. In addition to her five Wimbledon championships, Venus won the US Open twice and four Olympic gold medals.

Coco Vandeweghe made her first quarter-final appearance in a Grand Slam event at Wimbledon in 2015 when she lost to Maria Sharapova in three sets. In 2014 Vandeweghe hit a total of 306 aces which was the third highest on the WTA (Women's Tennis Association).

In early 2015 Bacsinszky had a stretch of 15 consecutive victories that ended when she lost in the semi-finals of the French Open. Prior to 2015 she had never made it past the third round of any Grand Slam event.

Muguruza succumbed in the final 6-4, 6-4 to Serena Williams but she gave Serena quite a match as she broke her serve during both sets. Muguruza was born to a Spanish father and Venezuelan mother and she joined the WTA in 2012.

Surprisingly, Sharapova won the first two matches she faced Serena Williams in 2004. At the 2015 Wimbledon Championships their combined ages were 61 (33 for Williams and 28 for Sharapova) whereas the combined ages of the other semi-final match was 47 (21 for Muguruza and 26 for Radwanska).

Heather Watson turned pro in 2010 and won her first title on the WTA in 2012 at the Japan Open. In 2009 she won the junior US Open, but as a professional she lost in the first round of the first three US Open tournaments she participated in.

Answer: Her 21 Grand Slam titles set a record for the most all-time Grand Slam wins.

Although 21 Grand Slam titles was a major milestone to achieve, both Steffi Graf with 22 titles and Margaret Court with 24 titles had more Grand Slam titles that Williams after the 2015 Wimbledon. Serena had also won 13 doubles titles and four Olympic gold medals.
