1. Which team won the first AFL Grand Final?

Answer: Collingwood

Collingwood won the 1990 grand final, the first season under the new title 'AFL'. It was previously known as the VFL (Victorian Football League) leading up to the 1990 season. Since it was not only Victorian teams participating anymore, but also a few interstate teams, it was changed.
2. Which team was named team of the decade (1990-2000)?

Answer: West Coast Eagles

The Eagles made it into the finals every year, won the 1992, and 94 Grand Finals, and were minor premiers in 1991. North Melbourne won the 1996 and 1999 grand finals. They made it into the 1998 grand final, but lost. The Kangaroos also made the finals all years apart from 1990, 91, and 92, under the guidance of their coach Dennis Pagan.
3. Which team did the Kangaroos lose to in the 1998 Grand Final?

Answer: Adelaide

Adelaide won the 1997 and 1998 Grand Finals. The 1997 wini was against St. Kilda.

Answer: Tony Lockett

Tony Lockett set the record of 1306 goals, the record breaker was kicked against Collingwood on June 6th, 1999. He broke the 62 year old record held by Collingwood's Gordon Coventry.

Answer: Brisbane and Fitzroy

It was the Brisbane Bears and the Fitzroy Lions that merged to make the Brisbane Lions.

Answer: Mick Malthouse

Malthouse took over the role of coach from Tony Shaw in 2000. He coached them to the 2002 grand final, but lost to the reigning premiers, the Brisbane Lions. Malthouse previously coached the West Coast Eagles to win two premierships and many finals.

1997 was the first year that Footscray participated under their new name, the Western Bulldogs.

Ted 'Teddy' Whitten played 321 games for the club between 1951 and 1970, including the club's only premiership win in 1954. He booted 360 goals for the club, and played 29 times for Victoria. He died from cancer in 1995.
10. Who won the 1999 Brownlow Medal?

Answer: Shane Crawford

Shane Crawford was given the captain role for the Hawthorn Hawks in 1999. He won the Brownlow in 1999, and came third in 2002. He has won the Hawthorn Best and Fairest awards in 1998, 1999, and 2002. Crawford was an All-Australian team member in 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2002.
