Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which career Washington Senator pitcher was nicknamed "Big Train"?

Answer: Walter Johnson

From 1907-1927, Johnson was setting not just Senator or American League records, but Major League records. He was the second player in history to win 400 games, and set a record for 110 career shutouts. He was the only pitcher to come close to the 100-shutout mark in the 20th Century.

The only modern day pitchers to thrive in shutouts were Warren Spahn with 63, and both Nolan Ryan and Tom Seaver with 61. Walter won two American League MVPs and threw an amazing three Triple Crowns. He was one of the first five inductees into the Hall of Fame in 1936.
2. There's nothing fishy about this 15-season American League and Cy Young Award winner. Who was this Oakland Athletic pitcher nicknamed "Catfish"?
