Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which circuit was the last round of the 2006 championship held on?

Answer: Silverstone

Silverstone hosted the last round of the 2006 season, but was replaced by Rockingham for the 2007 season. It appeared in the 2008 calendar though.
2. Which county hosted the third round of the 2006 calendar?

Answer: Cheshire

Oulton Park's island circuit hosted the third round of the championship in 2006, which is located in the county of Cheshire in northwest England.
3. Who did Vauxhall bring in as a guest in the 2007 championship finale at Thruxton?

Answer: Alain Menu

Alain Menu was brought in to try to help Fabrizio Giovanardi win the championship from SEAT's Jason Plato. Alain had a miserable weekend, but Fabrizio won the championship.
4. James Thompson and Darren Turner both drove the second SEAT throughout 2006, but which driver drove at Silverstone?

Answer: They both drove

James Thompson could only do 6 rounds of the BTCC series in 2006, as the other weekends clashed with his WTCC campaign.
5. Which of these drivers did not win a race in 2008?

Answer: Adam Jones

Adam Jones never won a race in 2008, although was mixing with the front runners in a lot of races. Tom Chilton won the last race of the year at Brands Hatch. Matt Neal won the last race of the day at Rockingham in the wet, and Matt Jackson won 5 races throughout the year on his way to second place overall.
6. Where was the longest pole position lap in terms of time in 2008?

Answer: Oulton Park

Jason Plato's pole position lap at Oulton Park was a 1:27.668, compared to 1:25.825 from Darren Turner at Croft, Gordon Shedden's 1:24.327 at Rockingham, and Jason Plato's 1:11.145 at Snetterton.
7. Which configuration of the Oulton Park circuit was used in 2008?

Answer: Island

The Island Circuit was used, the GP circuit is slightly longer, the motorcycle circuit misses out a chicane from the GP circuit, and the Fosters circuit is the shortest of them all.
8. Which configuration of the Silverstone Circuit was used in 2008?

Answer: National

The National Circuit misses out beckets and a sharp left is used to take the cars down to Brooklands. The international circuit is slightly longer, as it included abbey, bridge, and priory. The GP circuit is the longest, and the one that Fia GT cars and Formula 1 cars use, the Stowe circuit, is a small circuit in the middle of the main track.
9. How many team Halfords cars were there at Knockhill 2006?

Answer: 3

Team Halfords used Gareth Howell for some meetings at the end of the season, to help take points off Matt Neal's rivals. In one race, the Halfords covered the podium with first, second, and third places.
10. Who won the final race of the 2007 calendar?

Answer: Mat Jackson

Mat Jackson won race 3 at Thruxton, the last round of the championship, but the big story of the race was Fabrizio Giovanardi coming in second, ahead of Jason Plato, and therefore clinched the title. The race was stopped early because of a nasty crash for Mike Jordan at the last chicane.
