Answer: George Burns

Burns, playing first base, caught a line drive for out #1, tagged the man off 1st base for out #2, then tagged 2nd base before the runner on 2nd could return for out #3. The other three players are all members of the unassisted triple play club as well.

Answer: Municipal Stadium - Cleveland

The third All-Star game was held in 1935 where a record crowd of over 69,000 attended the game won by the American League 4-1. Jimmy Foxx hit a two-run home run in the 1st inning.
3. Yankee great Lou Gehrig played in his third World Series in 1928. How many home runs did he hit in the four-game Yankee sweep over the St. Louis Cardinals?

Gehrig batted .547, with 4 home runs and 9 runs batted in. He was also walked 6 times.

Answer: Mickey Welch

Welch, joined the 300 win club on August 11, 1890. He had a 13 year career mostly with the New York Giants which included 44 wins in 1885 and 307 wins overall. Gavin was the first to reach the 300 win club on September 4, 1888 and Keefe was the second on June 4, 1890. Young won his 300th game on July 3, 1901 on his way to 511 career wins.

Answer: Burt Hooton

Major league baseball began drafting amateur players in 1965. Mike Adamson (1967) and Steve Dunning (1970) were the first two drafted players that went directly to the major league however they both had short careers. Hooten however pitched for 15 years and won 151 games for the Cubs and Dodgers. The other players listed were all draftees that went directly to the major league.

Answer: Rudy York

Yankee Tony Lazzeri and Red Sox Jim Taber are the first two players to hit two grand slams in a single game. York hit his two grand slams in 1946 as a member of the Boston Red Sox. Ruth, Foxx and Ott never hit two grand slams in a single game.
7. Who was the third U.S. President to attend a major league baseball game while in office?

Answer: Woodrow Wilson

On June 6, 1892 Benjamin Harrison was the first President to attend a major league baseball game (Cincinnati Reds 7 - Washington Senators 4). Taft was the second Presidential attendee and in 1910 the first to throw out the first pitch. Wilson, who played baseball at Davidson College, was the third Presidential attendee and the first to attend a World Series game.

In 1880 Lee Richmond and John Ward were the first two pitchers to pitch a perfect game. They achieved that feat a mere 5 days apart in the 1880 season (Richmond on June 12 and Ward on June 17). Young, at age 37, pitched the 3rd perfect game on May 5, 1904 for the Boston Red Sox against the Philadelphia Athletics. The others also pitched a perfect game during their careers.
