Answer: St. Andrews

Apart from the Jubilee, there are six other courses at St. Andrews, including The Old Course, which is the oldest golf course in the world. It was on this course that Daniel Steel played in the 1970 Open Championship, where he recorded scores of 78 and 76, missing the cut for the third round.

Answer: Severiano Ballesteros

Seve won the Open in 1979, 1984 and 1988 and was Masters champion in 1980 and 1983. He designed Quinta do Vale in 2008, with its beautiful views over the Guadiana River and six challenging par 5s. Seve died in 2011, three years after undergoing treatment for a brain tumor.
3. Which famous golf course designer, with courses in Philippines, USA, Bermuda, Spain, Ireland and Canada among others, once proudly said, "The sun never sets on one of my golf courses"?

Answer: Robert Trent Jones

Jones' sons Robert Trent Jr, and Rees both followed in their father's footsteps and became golf course architects and have between them designed many courses around the world. Jones Senior was born in Ince-in-Makerfield, near Wigan UK and emigrated to USA when five years old.

In 1927 he posted the best score of all the amateur golfers at the Canadian Open and in 1987 he received the highest possible honour from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, the Old Tom Award. He died in 2000 aged 93.

Answer: Davis Love III

Ocean Creek was built in 1995 and was immediately named as "one of the 10 best new courses in America" by Golf Digest magazine. The course is located on Fripp Island which is where scenes from "Forrest Gump" (1994) and 1994s "Jungle Book" were filmed. Davis Love III is the son of Davis Love Jr., who tied for sixth place in the 1969 Open
5. Which world renowned golf course architect designed what is often referred to as "the world's most terrifying tee shot" at TPC Sawgrass?

Answer: Pete Dye

Dye, who is married to fellow course architect Alice Dye, designed the par three, 17th hole at Sawgrass which is known as the Island Green and the rest of the course specifically for the 2008 TPC event. The hole is so famous that during major events, TV station, "The Golf Channel" devotes over ten cameras to it, but it is also so difficult that it is estimated that over 100,000 wayward balls are retrieved from the water each year.
6. Born in Berlin in 1931, which eight-time Ryder Cup member, known as "The voice of golf", co-designed the Brabazon Course and the Derby Course at The Belfry?

Answer: Peter Alliss

As a pro, Alliss won the British PGA three times and came second in the Open in 1954. In 1953, when Alliss was selected for his first Ryder Cup, he became the first player to have followed in his father's footsteps, as his dad Percy had represented Great Britain four times from 1929 to 1937. Alliss did commentary work while still playing and so moved seamlessly into it when he retired in 1975 and has worked for BBC in UK, ABC in Australia and CBC in Canada.

Answer: China

Mission Hills Golf Club is in Guanlan, China and features twelve different courses, all designed by professional golfers, including a par three course designed by the first Chinese golfer to play in The Masters, Zhang Lianwei.

8. James Braid was the architect who in 1926 revamped Old Tom Morris's design at which course, that reduced Sergio Garcia to tears in 1999?

Answer: Carnoustie

Carnoustie, a links course in Scotland, has hosted the Open since 1931, but in 1999, the narrow fairways, thick rough and strong winds caused havoc, with nobody scoring under par on the first day and day-one leader Rod Pampling missing the cut after shooting a 15 over par 86 on day two. Garcia hit an opening day score of 89, (18 over par) to bring about his tears and the event was won by Paul Lawrie, after a play off, with a combined score over the four days of six over par. James Braid was also responsible for redesigning Erskine Golf Club and Renfrew Gold Club, both also in Scotland.
9. What did Scott Miller design at Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course that makes it unique as well as an experience to play?

Answer: Floating Green

Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course has been called the world's most beautiful golf course and is home to the famous floating green of the 14th hole. The green is the world's only movable green and is moved to set locations by computer. Golfers must take a short boat ride to reach it, aboard the appropriately named "Putter". Apart from Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course in Idaho, Scott Miller has also worked with indigenous people creating golf courses in New Mexico and Arizona.
10. Known as "The King", who won the U.S. Amateur Championship in 1954, the U.S. Open in 1960, the U.S. Senior Open in 1981 and designed the first modern golf course in China, which opened in 1984?

Answer: Arnold Palmer

Palmer was also a an accomplished pilot and flew for over 50 years, as well as being one of golfs big three in the 60s along with Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player. As a designer, he worked on over 300 courses in every continent apart from Africa and Antarctica, and it was his name being attached to the Chung Shan Hot Springs course that gave the sport a huge boost in China. Part of the challenge of the Palmer course is the bentgrass greens as bentgrass can be cut very short, which means the greens are very smooth but deceptively quick.
