Answer: Philadelphia, Pa.

The city skyline is visible from one of the tee boxes on the course.
2. Who is credited with the design of this ferociously penal golf course?

Answer: George Crump & H.S. Colt

Hotel baron George Crump purchased the land, in Clementon, New Jersey, in 1912 for what would be the Pine Valley Golf Club. He spent the last six years of his life developing it and designed nearly all of the course. H.S. Colt assisted in the original routing and receives credit as co-designer. Hugh Wilson, of Merion fame, helped finalize the course after Crump died in 1918.
3. Pine Valley has long been rated as a difficult layout to play. In 2002, what was the course of Pine Valley from its championship Tees?

Answer: 158

The dastardly penal golf course has more hazards than a war zone more undulations than imaginable, yet its lush fairways are some of the widest imaginable.
4. Which of these makes the par three 5th hole, a 230-yard test, even more difficult?

Answer: An elevated green, framed with trees

One might answer all of the above, but most would agree that in addition to its length, the trees which surround this elevated green and numerous trees makes this hole one of the toughest par three's in the world.
5. On what annual occasion may the general public enter the ultra-private Pine Valley Golf Club.

Answer: Crump Cup finals

The general public may not enter club grounds, except as spectators for the final round of the club's annual Crump Cup competition. Up to 1,000 spectators attend this fall event.
6. The 10th Hole at Pine Valley, a short yet demanding par three of 145-yards, has a deep pot bunker guarding the front right of the green. This bunker is affectionately called _______ by the members?

7. Who of the following is NOT a member of this prestigious club as of 2002?

Answer: Tiger Woods

The original 007, Sean Connery, and comedian Bob Hope have long been members of Pine Valley. Jay Sigel, who produced the national best amateur record since Bobby Jones, is a member. Tiger Woods is not.

9. The par five seventh hole at Pine Valley has a dastardly feature --- a natural sand bunker which starts about 285 yards off the tee and extends for nearly 100 yards. Sand, bushes, rocks, and so forth make landing in this area nearly unplayable. It is called _______ ?

Answer: Hell's Half Acre

Without a big drive the majority of players can't hit over this hazard in two shots. Instead, they must lay up short of the Sahara of sand.
10. In addition to its famed regulation layout, the club added a 10-hole short course in the 1990s. This allows players to practice shots similar to what they will face on the regulation course. Who designed the Short Course?
