Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was the first female to land a triple axle in competition?

Answer: Midori Ito

Midori Ito and Tanya Harding were the 1st and 2nd to land the Triple Axle in competition, back in the early 90's. No lady was able to repeat that accomplishment until the 2003 season at Skate America, where both Yukari Nakano and Ludmila Nelidina landed them within minutes of each other.
2. At the 2003 World Championships, Michelle Kwan won her 5th world title What were the locations of her world victories, and in what order do they go?

Answer: 1) Edmonton, Canada 2) Minneapolis, MN 3) Nice, France 4) Vancouver, Canada 5) Washington DC, USA

It's amazing to think about all Michelle Kwan had accomplished. In 2003, she had 7 National titles, 5 World titles, and 2 Olympic medals.
3. How many national titles did the great Janet Lynn win?

Answer: 5

Janet Lynn was considered by many to be the most beautifull skater of all time. Even so, she could never muster an Olympic Gold, or a World Championship Gold medal.
4. The World Skating Federation (WSF) was run by former USFSA judge

Answer: Ron Pfenning

The WSF (World Skating Federation) had been a long time coming. With the Olympic scandal run by the Russia Mafia, several USFSA members had enough. The WSF had support from many professional skaters, Scott Hamilton and Kristi Yamaguchi, and is growing larger everyday. The WSF wants to someday take over the ISU and the Olympic governing body of figure skating.
5. Midori Ito landed the 1st triple/triple combination by a lady, in the 1980 World Junior Championships?

Answer: False

Midori Ito was the 1st lady to accomplish a triple/triple in competition, but she did it in 1981.
