Answer: Eugenie Bouchard

2014 was a bumper year for Quebec born Bouchard as not only did she reach the Wimbledon final, but she also reached the semi finals of both the Australian and French Open Championships. She may have lost the Wimbledon final to Czech, Petra Kvitova in straight sets (3-6, 0-6) but her performances throughout the year saw her rise to number five in the world rankings, making her the first Canadian female tennis player ever to be ranked in the top five in singles.
