The Packers bested the defending champion Browns 23-12 in the final NFL title game where the winner was automatically the Champion. Starting the next season there was a crossover game with the rival AFL and the Super Bowl era would begin.

The AFL repeated as Super Bowl Champions when the Kansas City Chiefs won that game 23-7. The Vikings had won the NFL championship 27-7 over the Browns. This was the final year before the AFL-NFL merger, and therefore the final NFL title game.
